Our visit to Movida was on December 31 for the restaurant’s special new year eve menu, so it wasn’t exactly a typical meal. The offering had multiple courses, all of which were tasty and good quality. The service was friendly and efficient, despite the unique pressure of serving the same dishes to multiple tables as quickly as the kitchen could prepare them. The meal was a relaxed affair, and although we began eating at 21:00, the final course didn’t arrive until after we’d tackled our 12 grapes at midnight. Although the restaurant was more or less full, most of the tables were occupied by couples who were able to enjoy a fairly intimate eating experience. The one downside, possibly understandable in a tourist town like Dénia, was a pretty rowdy table of English people. There was also an English couple who clearly didn’t understand the concept of the evening and left early, complaining they hadn’t had all the dishes on the menu! Read moreVery friendly and helpful staff but didn’t help when for an older person like myself that I could hardly read the menu. The print and font size were very small making it extremely difficult for me to understand the menu. The food was like ‘The Curates Egg’: good in parts. The salad and home made bread was superb as was the mushroom croquettes. I had the patatas bravas as a starter tapas which surprisingly came as 4 boiled potatoes with skin on injected with bravas sauce topped with alioli - certainly not what I was expecting. My main was a mariscos Tagine which came scaldingly hot that burnt my mouth when first tasting and unfortunately was very over cooked rendering the king prawns, clams and mussels rather tasteless and rubbery. I applaud a restaurant trying a new approach but sometimes the classics should be left alone. Finally, be aware. When offered sone water, whist assuming it will be tap water it will come in an opened 50cl bottle...
Read moreHad an absolutely delightful experience at Movida Denia last evening. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly.
For tapas, we chose the Patatas Bravas and Croquetas de Pollo Campero y Jamon. The bravas sauce had just the right amount of kick and the croquetas were creamy on the inside with a perfect crispy exterior.
For the main course, the Gourmet Chicken Fillet Burger was a standout. The grilled chicken was juicy and the combination of sour cream & sweet chili gave it a unique flavor.
We ended our meal with the Belgian Chocolate Fondue. Dipping fresh strawberries and wafers into the melted chocolate was the perfect end to a perfect meal.
Highly recommend Movida Denia for anyone looking for authentic Spanish flavors with a modern twist. Can't wait to...
