What a pleasant surprise! Rani Palace is situated right outside Marina Portet de Denia so very convenient for boaters and on the main waterfront street. All of the food was delicious! The naan was light and one order was enough for two people. We had butter chicken and lamb vindeloo. The butter chicken was so flavorful and I think there was a little hint of nutmeg which just set it apart. Best I’ve had anywhere in the Mediterranean. The lamb vindeloo had the perfect amount of burn so if you like spicier food this is it. Indian beer Cobra was available by the bottle and cold. We also had the vegetable pakora which was done different than we are used to with different veggies done individually. Very tasty. The meal was fast and the service peasant. All in all a perfect meal. The restaurant interior was formal but the outside tables were plain but comfortable but on a busy roundabout so if you don’t like the sound of traffic eat inside. We started with a surprisingly large and super-fresh green salad, which was also very reasonably priced. We moved on to onion bhaji which was also fresh and just the right consistency. Not too oily, but extremely tasty with good texture. For the main courses we had vegetable biryani and vegetable jalfrezi with a hot Madras style sauce. All dishes were of ample proportions and nicely presented. This restaurant is a good choice for vegetarians and vegans as many options are available. Finally, the garlic naan bread was perfect. Could not criticise...
Read moreWe should have walked out the minute we walked in - No service with a smile here. None of the staff had any sort of customer service skills, and that's even before having to deal with a complaint.. poor service from the off. The food was absolutely terrible. Chewy and un edible chicken used for the curries, and I'm pretty sure the starters of lamb kebab and tikka fish was microwaved.. infact the fish didnt taste like fish but chicken and the lamb had zero flavour that it must have been something unknown to my palette. When we complained when asked how the food was they ddint seem bothered at all so much so that we were giving our bill in full with no good will gesture of a reduced bill. Avoid this place.. there are other Indian restaurants...
