I see here some bad reviews and this, I really can't understand; so, why? I stayed in a lot of hotels. At Ancora, I'm coming since 3 years, if I count the time together that I stayed here, I guess, I stayed here already more than 3 or 4 months! it's one of the best Hotels in town! I stayed here so often, that it even feels to start like home! sure, before they renovated, there where here and there some things missing or some "older" stuff to find! what i never found were bedbugs! and even if there where ones one room with, the people who brought them are guilty, it's not the fault of the Hotel, think about this! but okay, since the makeover, what they did, it's just amazing! and the most obvious point to me is, how people can say that the personal is uncommunicative; than I think that they are talking about another Hotel! because, the owners are awesome, friendly, and very helpful and correctly! The prices, like in the most hotels, are depending on the season; and the prices are definitely correct!
Read moreAfter walking 400 km on the Camino de Santiago, where we stayed in albergues with shared bathrooms and very basic conditions, we spent two nights here. Unfortunately, it felt closer to a half-star hotel, if that were possible. The bathroom cistern kept running all night, making it very difficult to sleep—almost like listening to snoring in the albergues. The blanket, which I barely used, had a suspicious mark on it (and I doubt it was carpenter’s glue). Conversations from the employees could be clearly heard inside my room. The TV didn’t work at first, but after several attempts, the staff managed to fix it, which I did appreciate.
The location is good—just straight ahead you reach the Faro, which is convenient. However, the breakfast, which costs €7.80 per person, offered no protein options. It was mostly bread and sweets, leaving you full but not satisfied, and overall felt cheap and unhealthy. On top of that, Finisterre itself is only really worth visiting for the views. The town is not well taken care of, it’s not very attractive, and the port isn’t a particularly pleasant place to...
Read moreThey lost my luggage and blamed me for it.
I rarely write bad reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. The reception staff were extremely rude and took no responsibility.
I arrived early and asked if I could leave my luggage with the hotel. They confirmed and showed me exactly where to leave it. When I returned, my luggage was gone — taken by mistake by a transport company. Reception confirmed it was with a driver who is 20–30 minutes away, but when I asked for the time of his arrival, they said ‘he will come in an hour or maybe 2, or 3’, refused to call him again and instead told me it was my fault for leaving my bag there (even though they instructed me to!).
They kept insisting it wasn’t the hotel’s fault at all and even blamed me for “putting it in the wrong place,” which was simply untrue. They promised to message me when my bag was returned but never did.
This hotel loses your luggage, refuses responsibility, and then blames the guest. I would not recommend...
