AWFUL, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE…DO NOT GO…
I am extremely lucky that I travel the world regularly, and it is extremely rarely that I am forced to write about somewhere in the negative, but the ‘World Family’ has literally forced my hand.
A Friday evening where all the local drunks decided to hog the bar…(as a child of an alcoholic I know the difference between a drunk and someone who is drunk)…the local alcoholics turned up (from another local bar that I had just left, looking for some peace and quiet) and took over the place.
I was the only paying restaurant customer. I had decided to come here because of the quite cool ‘hippy’ vibe it seems to ‘sell’. I was ushered off a table for 4, which I was using the spread out and write my camino journal because ‘people are coming’….although nobody turned up.
I thought to play it safe and order a burger and quietly sit in the corner. When the burger arrived, I asked for mayo/ketchup/tabasco…I was told ‘no’. There was a hippy guy selling jewellery who saw what happened, and then got me the mayo/ketchup himself, which the barman could not be bothered to fetch.
Then the barman put on a Spanish ‘party tune’ super loud, which all the drunks started to dance and sing loudly to…which normally would be fine, but this was 7.30pm, which in Spain is like 5pm anywhere else.
I finished my very mediocre burger, with no attention from anybody, waited for it to be cleared so I could write my journal, nobody came, so I moved back to the original (empty) table for 4. But to be honest the vibe was just awful, the total opposite of the ‘world family’ they are trying to present, and still I was the only restaurant paying customer in there.
Before leaving the camino, I had just spent one month in Pisac in Peru, a pure hippy hub. There, everyone is polite, open, happy and the food cooked with love…I felt that whatever I have eaten at ‘world family’ will probably react in a few hours, from lack of care or ill hygiene.
I have walked almost 1000km on three different caminos, and had hoped that my last mean in Finisterre would be a happy and enjoyable experience….the complete opposite happened….do not believe their hype, they would not know what the phrase ‘World Family’ actually meant if it were in front of...

In September 2025, I had the misfortune of visiting the World Family Bar in Fisterra for dinner. The experience was far from pleasant.
Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that the bar was in chaos. Several guests were visibly intoxicated, behaving loudly and aggressively. There was no effort made by anyone to calm the situation or ensure the safety of the patrons. The owner himself was heavily drunk, adding to the mayhem. Instead of managing the situation, he was parading around in a black top hat, attempting to play a violin poorly. His focus was solely on his own performance, completely disregarding the chaos unfolding around him.
The staff were visibly overwhelmed and seemed helpless. Behind the bar, employees struggled to work efficiently due to the lack of available drinks. Many items on the menu were unavailable because the necessary ingredients were missing, leading to numerous orders being unable to be fulfilled.
The hygiene conditions were appalling. In the restroom, there was no toilet paper, no toilet seat, and no soap. The floor was covered in urine, and the smell was unbearable. This level of neglect was completely unacceptable.
In summary, the experience was marked by aggressive guests, a drunken and self-absorbed owner with no control, overwhelmed staff, unreliable food and drink options, and disgusting sanitary facilities. The bar is currently in a state that is simply intolerable. For me, it's clear: I will...
