El cateto del Puerto — Restaurant in Fuengirola

We passed this restaurant yesterday whilst we were on a walk, and see people eating what looked to be some amazing looking calamari, so we decided to come back today for our lunch. I’ve given the food a 3 star rating purely for the fact we’ve been extremely lucky and spoilt all this week with some absolutely amazing food in some great restaurants. Unfortunately, the food we ate in here today was pretty average and was not as good as any of the meals that we’ve had in Fuengirola. I had the calamari and the pil pil prawns. The calamari portion was huge! I’d give this dish a 3.5 star rating as it left a very oily taste in my mouth. Not sure what oils they used to cook in but wasn’t for me. The prawns I’d give a 3 star as they were again very average. But again, I’m comparing them based on others I’ve had in Fuengirola. This is just my opinion and I can see that others have rated the food here highly, so maybe it’s just me. Lovely setting and location for a restaurant. Don’t let my review put you off as there are a lot of people who have voted the food a 5 star and it was very busy with locals who clearly...

I don't recommend this restaurant at all. First of all, there were bugs in the bathroom, which tells me that there are for sure bugs in the kitchen too. Also the food is not worth the risk, the sardines and grilled fish was average. The staff also didn't bring any napkins and did not change the cutlery after the first meal, which is not such a big deal, but all of this details together just ruined our meal. ALSO BUGS IN...

Absolutely recommendable! This restaurant offers delicious fresh sardines on a skewer – grilled right inside by their own espetero! You get 10 sardines for just €4 – amazing value and great taste. Plus, there's a free view of the harbour while you enjoy your meal.

I also had Rosada a la plancha, which was grilled to perfection and full of flavour.

The staff was very friendly, fast, and everything was clean. When I asked about the grill, they even offered me a little tour to see the espetero in action. This place deserves 5 stars from me. I’ll definitely come back!

El personal fue muy amable, rápido y todo estaba muy limpio. Al preguntar por el espeto, incluso me ofrecieron una pequeña visita para verlo de cerca. Este sitio merece 5 estrellas....
