Visited Barcelona, San Sebastián, Getxo/Bilbao and Madrid, and this was far and away the best dinner we had! The food is simple and fresh. Their formula boils down to matching a few amazing ingredients to create food that is irresistible on every level! Borda is off the beaten path, probably a 10 minute walk from the beach in Getxo, so if your cruise includes a stop in Bilbao and docks in Getxo, do yourself a favor and make a reservation!
Our meal started with the most amazing tomato salad, a plate of Guindilla peppers, then the smoothest mashed potatoes with chanterelle mushrooms and a poached egg (amazing!), pan-seared fresh anchovies (I could have eaten plates and plates of these!) and a beautiful steak (one that will give any Florentine bistecca a run for its money!) paired with a simple refreshing salad. Los platos templados tirando a fríos, la calidad regular, poco cuidado, los comentarios del servicio al límite, empatía poca. Dos personas para tres comedores. Muy DEFICIENTE!!! Ah bueno y comentar que si toca en el comedor con más luz natural, dónde las vidrieras, estás por decir de alguna manera en “economy” con individuales de bareto cutre y servilletas casi de papel, mientras miras a los demás comedores y están con mantel y todo lo que acompaña, en “business”. Para culminar comimos en un mar de moscas, dos cayeron en mi zurito durante el aperitivo, un par en las copas de vino, y otra en el café! Ni en en la selva Amazónica! Qué fácil es resolver esta carnicería de insectos asquerosos con un fluss de droguería o pasar por la ferretería antes de abrir al público para comprar unos caza moscas. Por Dios que asco comer así! Y más pagando 100€ por barba! Vamos que no volvemos ni invitados. Un horror! Allí lo dejo con tristeza x
The truth is that we went in October 2022 and we were delighted! Unfortunately on this occasion we cannot say the same. The dishes were barley warm, almost cold, the quality so so , little care, the service on the limit, not much empathy. Two waitresses for three dining rooms. Very poor service and timing. If you get the dining room with more natural light, where the stained glass windows are, in some ways your in "economy" with seedy placemats and paper napkins, while you look at the other dining rooms and they are with nice tablecloths and everything that goes with them, basically in “business class”. Same menu and same prices. We ate in a sea of flies, two fell into my fist beer during the fist course, a couple in the wine glasses, and another in the coffee! Disgusting!! How easy it is to solve this carnage of disgusting insects with a drugstore or the local hardware store before opening to the public and buy something to solve the problem. My God, is really disgusting to eat like that! And more so when your paying €100 per person! Come on, we surely won't be back. Horrible experience! I comment...
