Patagonia Steak House — Restaurant in Guardamar del Segura

Oh dear Patagonia. Been a go to place for years but let yourself down now. Quesada needs new waiting staff urgently. Never been great but both waiting staff downright rude this time. Told 35 to 40 minute wait for food as very busy and we hadn't reserved table. We said OK although the place was less than half full. Expected to wait for food but not to be ignored when asking how long before we could get a drink! After several attempts we gave up and left to a sarcastic "bye" from one of the waiting staff. Telephoned the El Raso restaurant and "reserved" a table there no problem. Service in El Raso much more friendly even though there was only 1 waiter and more customers. Drinks orders taken and drinks served with 5 minutes of arrival. Food order taken just a few minutes after that. BUT. This is where Patagonia has let itself down here too. Special menu del dia discontinued, no offers on drinks either. I understand it's been hard for all businesses and now hopefully with an increase in tourists, there's a chance to make some money back. But as locals and residents, we've supported Patagonia for years, in winter and summer and when we could through the covid situation. I expect to see a little bit of taking advantage of tourists in summer but not this bad. 2 of us had the mixed grill which is normally a real feast. It was like a children's portion! Sausages half the size they normally are. Black pudding again half the size and not even warm but soggy. Ribs I almost missed. 3cm square max. The steak, chicken and pork were scrawny pieces a 3rd the size they normally are. In all, the meat didn't cover half of the hot plate it comes on. What a massive let down on both restarants. Sorry but we'll be going to the Buenos Aires from now on, even though we've supported you for years, it's time you changed your waiting staff in Quesada and realised it's not just tourists that eat there in summer so stop trying...

Wir waren gestern (Dienstag) im Patagonia.Es waren nur 5 Gäste da ,der Kellner war sehr nett und freundlich.Uns wurde ein Platz neben Bierkästen angeboten, nicht sehr einladend.Die Kellner tragen alle Shirts mit "Argentinischer Grill bzw Grillmeister"nur leider ist im Restaurant kein argentinischer Grill.Es gibt argentinisches Fleisch jedoch ist die Wurst nur argentinische Art obwohl in der Karze mit argentinisch bezeichnet.Der Koch telefonierte ständig ,grillte mir Handy am Ohr unser Fleisch..... Da die Küche offen ist war sein Gespräch für uns störend.Der freundliche Kellner nahm unsere Bestellung auf erklärte, dass die Chimichurisosse keine echte ist sondern eher creolisch jedoch selbst hergestellt. Diese war sehr schmackhaft wurde uns jedoch von der anderen Kellnerin als Chimichuri "verkauft".Ich hatte extra nocheinmal nachgefragt. Mein Fleischspiess war gut gegrillt ,wie gesagt nicht auf einem argentinischen Grill, es fehlten die Röstaromen.Mein Partner,übrigens ein Argentinier,war ebenfalls mit der Fleischqualität zufrieden jedoch war seine Portion wohl etwas grosszügig in der Karte ausgewiesen, denn sein Fleischstück war recht klein ausgefallen.Die Teller rustikal angerichtet, was in Argentinien genau so gehandhabt wird nur hatten wir eine kleine Salatdeko auf dem Teller die wohl schon sehr sehr lange darauf wartete an den Tisch gebracht zu werden.Wir vermuten, die Teller wurden zu Schichtbeginn oder gar am Vortag garniert und im Kühlschrank gelagert und duften dann auf ihren Einsatz warten.Sehr sehr traurig und unappetitlich dieser Anblick!! Weglassen wäre hier die bessere Alternative.Da wenig Gäste gegessen haben hätte man jeden Teller etwas beim Anrichten dekorieren können, aber der Koch war ja mit seinem Handy beschäftigt....Zum Anfang bestellten wir den Salat Patagonia.Auch dieser war lieblos angerichtet.Eine Basis aus Eisbergsalat etwas Mais Tomaten ein Löffel Nüsse und ein Löffel Sultaninen die mehr als trocken waren.Das gereichte Öl und Rotweinessig waren von minder Qualität.Es hat uns keinen Spass gemacht diesen Salat zu essen.Meine Pommes waren matschig und ohne Geschmack.Mein Partner hatte eine Backkartoffel die ebenfalls ihre beste Zeit hinter sich hatte....Leider hatten wir auf einen Nachtisch keine Lust mehr.Ein Espresso sollte es richten doch auch dieser war sehr bitter und ganz und gar nicht ausgewogen und aromatisch.Schade wirklich schade wir hatten uns so gefreut, da wir gute Rezessionen gelesen haben.Ich wiederhole mich sehr gern und bestätigte, dass die Kellner sehr freundlich sind.Wir werden dieses Lokal nicht...

Excellent meal! We visited the Patagonia Steak House tonight with our two children as a treat for the last day of our holiday and im glad we did. The service was outstanding, best we've received our whole visit and that's saying something! The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and our children and also sent us home with some food for a family member who couldn't make the meal.

The food itself was faultless, beautifully cooked Steak and Chicken, lovely fresh Pasta for our children's meal and really generous portions! Wish we had visited earlier on our holiday so that we could go back! Will defiantly...
