The place is great, the ambiance, the way to decorate it, everything is gathered to have a great time in this place, very close to the famous Pacha club. BUT, if you want to go there not only to enjoy the atmosphere, but also to eat and have some drinks, you should think twice. First, the drinks are incredibly expensive, cocktails starting at 22€, wine starting at 60€ for a very basic one (we were 3 friends, with some knowledge with wines). Then, the food. There are some small portions of food pretending to be tapas, but you have to spend 8€ per piece that you eat at once… For the “main dishes”, I had the tuna sashimi: 32€ for 7 pieces (not thicker than 5mm) that I ate in less than 10 minutes, but I have to say there were quite good. In addition to that, the waiter came every 2 minutes to our table to either ask for another bottle of water,of wine, or for any other food, creating a feeling of hurry and emergency which is not the mood we were in. In short, this is a very nice place, but you may go there for drinks, but food shouldn’t be proposed as it just give a very bad image of the spirit...
Read moreWe went to Laylah to have dinner before heading out to Pacha next door. We expected an upscale place, so I won’t complain about the prices, just be prepared to spend 100€+/person.
The interior is seriously cool. Food was also good - not the best Middle Eastern I ever had but decent. Solid number of vegan/vegetarian options. Serving sizes were larger than expected. The champagne was also really tasty and they poured it in quite generously.
What I didn’t like was that it was super noisy. We sat close to the DJ - the music was good but we had to scream at each other to understand a word. Also the service was rather slow and not overly friendly. We waited for almost 15min to even get the menu. Ordered a bottle of water that was forgotten. Waived at the waiter three times until we were finally noticed. If you charge such prices, it would be sweet to actually feel welcomed. We were there around 11pm, so it wasn’t packed anymore…
In sum, it was an okay evening but we...
Read moreHonestly we were not amazed with our dinner experience at this venue. It started well with a lovely garden ambience a kind greeting and seating of the hostess but from there it all went downhill. The waitress took our order wrong and brought us an extra starter (hummus/babaganoush dip 22€) which we had not ordered, i did not decline it as i was hungry but was surprised. The beets salad is a joke, tiny and anyone can make this at home for less than 18€. The chicken burger was OK but not mind blowing. The chickpea croquets were good but you only get 3 units which is little for 10€. The celery dish was the only tasty and culinary dish out of them all. Addressing the service: the waiters are always looking over your back and dont even let you finish your last bite before clearing the plates. Overall, for the price you pay the quality and quantity is not matching. I had much higher expectations...
