Gwens Bar and Kitchen — Restaurant in la Vila Joiosa / Villajoyosa

So we've been coming to La Cala for the last 15 years and in these pass years we've seen obviously a lot of changes...some sad,some good and some just great. Last night I found one of the "greats" a small bar called "GWENS" which turned out to be just simply brilliant..Run by Johnathon and his superb chef...I had the Chilli con carne and my french wife had the chicken salad....now when I tell you that both the food and the service is just excellent.. believe me in 15 year's we've discovered?.

The service,the quality food,the ambiance and the overall experience of the this wonderful best kept secret in La Cala....gets my 5 stars without any doubt...at last a real honest hard-working quality bar and kitchen..that well deserves any and all recognition...well done and may it just continue.....pop in and give it a go ... happy...

A gem of a bar on The Boulavard.Slightly away from the The Bay,a 2 minute walk...inside bar,which is nice and cool with lovely open front and great views..it is immaculate & very relaxed.The host Jonathan literally can not do enough to make your visit perfect.The drink selection is great,glasses polished to perfection and always served with a smile.We ate here countless times on our stay.Grill day on Thurs is such great value...my steak was like a cut from a whole fillet (on the pics)...(i chose gravy instead of mushroom or peppercorn sauce) we also had the chicken & the gammon.Excellent quality & even better value.Fish & chips is a favorite....booking is advised as all the locals go on Fish Friday and the place is busy.Food piping hot & cooked to perfection.We sampled most of the menu.Thankyou Gwens bar for so many wonderful...

I and my partner arrived to this restaurant at 8.30pm with the intention of having a nice meal as we have dined here before. We were dining later than usual as we had been away for the day. My partner was waiting at the bar to be served by a bar man figiting around making coffee's for a long while as there is no table service then served the drinks and told my partner the kitchen was closed even though we were well within the closing time of 9pm. We were disappointed. Five meals arrived out for two different tables when having our drinks, as we were uncomfortable and hungry we left. Very unprofessional service and not very welcoming won't be back...
