I was going to let it slide but the Paella is very bad the rest is so/so. Much better to go elsewhere in my opinion.
The bald waiter at the end of the night that charged the bill attempted to over charge me simply because it was just a woman and myself. He thought I would bite my tongue and pay the extra fees because I would feel ashamed to say anything.
He charged me for a glass of wine and some sort of shrimp cocktail. Which was roughly $25 extra to the bill.
When I brought it to his attention he said no - you had these items. I said no they were not my ordered by us take the off. So we walks back to the counter and returns 5 minutes later.
Upon his return he doesn't acknowledge any mistake or apologize and said okay I've removed the wine.
I said take the shrimp off too, it wasn't ordered. Knowing full well I had a woman beside me he was being brazen trying to insult me as a cheapskate. But I refused to back down.
He then says did you not eat the shrimp? I said I tried to give the dish back to your waiter and they said no it's okay we can't take it back, go ahead and keep it.
The gentleman (I use the term loosely) then says well if you didn't want it you shouldn't have eaten it. Maybe you should have taken it away then instead of leaving it. Because we ended up having extra food that went to a homeless man instead. Which was the only good outcome that came out of the ordeal.
The guy working there needs a revamp in how to work with customers and should be counseled by his manager. From what I could tell he was just a cashier. I don't think a manager would behave in this manner.
He treated me like poop so I said he was acting like poop - that behavior is not something you do to another man while out.
The fact that you even put me in the position of having to correct even the wine was insane. I'm a part owner of a restaurant and would have apologized profusely to my customer and even given them a 50% discount for the trouble.
Had I not said anything this cashier would have stolen an additional $15 for the glass of wine from me on top of the cost of the shrimp.
Granted it's not a lot of money but the fact that I had to correct him on the bill and then again, is putting shame in my face. If this Restaurant wants first world clients as customers - I suggest you up your customer service game. I was going to tip them $15 for the meal but opted out because of this clowns poor behavior.
The job market is tough and I can appreciate he is working. I don't suggest negative action other than some retraining on how to work with customers and when you should say "let me go get my manager to see if he can correct the problem Sir' I do apologize it is very shameful for us to try to over charge you.
Straighten up your game or lose...
Read moreStrangest experience in this place. We sat and a waiter came with a rude aggressive attitude asking if we were eating or not. We said sure please we would like to see the menu in the meantime, no rush. He kept insisting we had to order food first. We said sure but then he kept getting even more aggressive. Eventually responded well I guess we will have to take our business somewhere else, and he got like this weird smirk and laughed. I imagine he is the owner and does not even pay rent, and must not care much for his occupation, because someone acting like this is just off the wall. Never saw something like this before. I thought this was just a typical tourist scam but from what I am reading in older reviews this is common behavior for them, just check, they do it all the time to tourists and locals (I guess the guy at least avoids racism). It has happened several times according to Google Translate and every time the owner just responds here that it's "simply not true". Avoid this place like the plague, the only reason they are getting away with this behavior is because they have an ideal location in a touristic area. There are other places in the same area, no need to encourage this behavior which is probably even illegal. If I were a local I would have gone...
Read moreStarting with sangria, it was delicious. When ordering the paella, we were advised it would take 30 minutes, which was no problem. Once it arrived, the first taste, from both me and my partner, had a feeling of disappointment. The prawns felt over cooked, the beef pieces were cold, and the overall flavor was very bland - it really needed salt. The seasoning is subjective, so this is no major issue. But the mix of over cooked / rubbery prawns and cold beef pieces in a hot dish is inexcusable. That said, I ate my minimum amount, but no more. When I asked for the bill, our friendly waitress asked how the meal was and I didn't want to make a moment of it, so I said 'it wasn't our dish tonight'. She pressed me on detail, so I gave the same feedback as above. She apologized, and explained they would 'fix the issue' (it wasn't clear what this meant), and I said I just wanted the bill and be done with it. About 15 minutes passed, with no further detail or the bill. Just waiting, I got the attention of another waiter and I asked about the bill. He just said "sangria and paella?", and I said yes. The bill then came, with no explanation of the past 15 minute wait, and no comment on the dish. It was a disappointing end to our first meal...
