I don't eat Mexican food that often, making comparisons hard, but I had a nice meal here. Me and 2 others from my group ordered from the set menu. For a starter, I had chicken nachos which were really nice. The other 2 shared stuffed jalapenos and veggie nachos which they found really good. For main, I had chicken tacos which were excellent with a slight spicy heat to it and excellent guacamole on the side. The others had a veggie burrito, which was really tasty (it was a little on the smaller side, a sentiment I can agree with), and a veggie fajita, which came sizzling hot (an impressive sight and sound) and was delicious. These veggie mains weren't actually on the set menu but the serving staff were happy to adapt it. Two others in my group had pizza. They enjoyed it, but I had a slice and felt that the cheese was not the best (they tasted like supermarket frozen pizzas). This does highlight one great thing at this restaurant: as well as the Mexican food, they do pizza, burgers and other dishes which is good if not everyone in your group fancies Mexican food. The set menu came with a dessert, either cheesecake, ice cream (chocolate or vanilla) or a coffee. I had the cheesecake which was really nice. Someone else had vanilla ice cream which was also really nice.
Service was pretty good and fast and the atmosphere was great. The outdoor seating is in a bustling street with lots of other restaurants and people. There was one street seller selling sunglasses that came through but he was easily brushed off. There was another pair playing some excellent accordion music and asking for coins but they were also easily brushed off.
One concern was that the actual interior restaurant contained freezers and a microwave, leading me to suspect that not all of the food was freshly cooked. I feel that this may have been the non-Mexican dishes so perhaps stay away from...
Read moreWas walking the strip to decide what to eat when a waiter stoped us and explained the menu del dia. All mains come with potatoes, salad or chips (fries) and despite the price he assured us the portions were the same as the full price items on the menu. The three of us were the only people there at 1530 but decided to try it. We got our drinks straight away then we ordered the food. 2 x prawn cocktails and 1 tempura prawn starters, 2 x “Argentinian” rib eye steaks medium, 1 x pork in a peppercorn sauce all with chips. Prawn cocktails were small watery tasteless defrosted, more pineapple chunks than prawn! Tempura prawns were frozen battered prawns, Steaks were over cooked, about 3mm thick, not rib eye or Argentinian, not with chips but cubed boiled potatoes. We questioned the chips and the waiter looked at us as if we had for truffles! Overall, poor quality, averagely cooked but the staff were miserable looking, mobile phone surfing. We...
Read moreThis is the worst food that I have ever had. We ordered the chicken nachos and after 25 minutes they came out completely burnt. Sent them back only to receive the soggiest nachos I have ever seen you could not eat them.
Ordered the fillet steak for main. A very dodgy sirloin tuned up. Full of grizzle and fat and not at all edible. The chips were so under cooked you could not eat them and the salad looked weeks old.
The cheesecake desserts was totally soggy and again not edible.
A horrendous experience food wise and the service was awful. Only 3 tables in and too over an hour and a half to get to dessert.
There are so many lovely places to eat in Los Alcazares so I would avoid this one and choose one...
