Shangri-La el vegetariano — Restaurant in Mérida

We were greeted warmly upon arrival, which made for a pleasant start. However, once inside, the strong smell of incense was overpowering and detracted from the dining experience.

The food arrived one dish at a time instead of all together, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal as a group. We tried the quesadillas with bell peppers, the burrito with beans, and the rice noodles with vegetables. The flavor was okay, but unfortunately, the ingredients did not seem fresh. The guacamole was clearly not homemade, and some components—like the pineapple and bell peppers—were straight from a can.

Honestly, I can only explain the many positive reviews by assuming that vegetarians and vegans in Mérida are just relieved to find any options at all. If there were more choices in town, I doubt this place...

Language is not a barrier when you are hungry

Very nice place, very friendly staff (English speaking person was absent on that day probably), still we managed to understand each other (with google translate app, of course) perfectly. My wife had stuffed mushrooms and I had a vegan burrito with veggies and beans. I even managed to order a spicy sauce on the side. The dessert we had was a vegan Apple pie with raspberry-mango ice-cream. The ice-cream texture and flavor were so rich and creamy - we triple checked it doesn't contain any dairy products and is really vegan. Prices are really reasonable.

Bottom line: If you are in Merida - this place is a must.

We patronized this wonderful vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Merida, Spain on a recommendation and we're glad we did. We - 7 of us- reached at around 3 pm but we're told that they close at 4 pm (guess for the afternoon) and we could not dine in. So we placed an order for takeout. The staff was friendly and professional and the food was very nicely packed. We ordered Greek Salad, stuffed mushrooms (excellent), Tony (excellent), burritos and an assortment of pies/cakes. Very tasty and delectable food. We waited in the restaurant till the food was ready and it is very cozy and nicely appointed.

Will definitely patronize them again the next...
