Came to Malaga to get some errands done and decided to give Desal Cafe a try. The food we ordered, eggs Benedict with salmon, vegetable toast, plus the granola and orange juice that were included were very good! Service was ok as well, although I am used to seeing my table cleared when done eating and leaving the empty plates. That didn't happen right away. Now, personally, the most important thing of a decent brunch is always the coffee for me. I ordered a cappucino, which was only 80 cents extra to my surprise, and I wondered why. Well, to my disappointment, it wasn't a good cappuccino :( It tasted very watery with not much flavour. I hope the owner reads this, because I personally love specialty coffee that is made by a barista and I would have paid up to 4-5 Euros extra just to get a good cappucino! So I would hope and wish the owner can improve the coffee quality, and as I said, I would be happy to pay for a good cappucino! In the end, we still bought a satchel of colombian & Brazil coffee beans. Anyway, keep up...
Read moreI don't understand why people are rating this place highly. The most important thing in a restaurant is how they treat their customers, rather than just having good food. Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing. The waitstaff were incredibly rude, making me wait for a table even though there were empty ones available. They seemed more focused on cleaning and serving other tables before attending to me, which didn't make sense.
As for the food, it was far from satisfactory. The coffee tasted terrible, the muffin was dry, and the poached egg turned out to be a boiled egg. To add to the disappointment, the hollandaise sauce wasn't even hollandaise.
Moreover, the staff didn't bother to check if the food was alright, and when it was time to pay, they were nowhere to be found. I was left waiting in the middle of the tiny restaurant, watching them clean and serve others before finally letting me pay. This whole experience was by far the worst I've ever had at...
Read moreFood is alright. The combo is interesting and it’s an okay price. Just note: the size of the food is questionable (I.e. eggs combo) as they give you lots of bread but little eggs and sides.. true you get a muesli and with the combos a small coffee and juice so that could be interesting to some people.
Giving it 3 starts because of the poor service: things like saying ‘HI’ and ‘BYE’ feels like a luxury here. Plus, please, don’t organise tables while others are there to consume (meaning I’m sitting there and you come to organise the table → not cleaning it → but organising it? Not sure.) → do it another time perhaps? Before opening OR after OR when the table is empty? Just a tip :’)
It’s definitely a good enough space if you want to mix up your brunch experience in Malaga but there are better...
