La Cruda — Restaurant in Madrid

Have been a fan of Cruda and Bendito for many years, but as you may appreciate from the below, their service is not always up to standard. Unfortunately on this visit, that reached a whole new level, whereby after booking a table at 8pm, and having our first glass of wine and a cheese board (with various normal delays incurred), the staff than refused to serve additional glasses of wine and informed us that they would only serve by the bottle. Unsettled and annoyed, we proceeded to finish what we had and booked our transport home. Within the time that took, two members of staff insisted that we leave the table (less than one hour after our initial reservation), the latter of whom claimed that we had “refused to do so” and that they needed it due to it being a special day (Sunday). We left when we finished up, with the worst feeling I’ve had when leaving any establishment in Madrid in a long, long time. For those interested: Offering good, service...

We were lucky to find an outside table on a sunny Sunday and from the moment we sat down I wanted to love this place. The waitress was welcoming and recommended a wine which was so good we ended up ordering a bottle. We ordered a couple of sharing plates priced at 14 each and whilst the food was really tasty the portion size/price ratio was terrible. I would love to try the whole menu here but the price of the dishes should be around 9, not 14. We had 4 tiny pieces of squash in one dish and a few slices of beetroot in the other, not 28 of food. It’s a shame because I would have liked this place to be a regular haunt.

Value for money? Unfortunately not . Would I go back? Yes but not as frequently as I would like and definitely not with a big appetite. High point? The lady who served us was lovely and the wine and food were delicious. Low point? The price...

El restaurante es diferente, tiene detalles finos y diferentes como el uso de reciclados o la simplicidad en los utensilios que es agradable. La tapa de queso en cuchara, que nos dieron estaba muy rica, por lo tanto los quesos son interesantes. Respecto a las raciones que pedimos, estando correctas y siendo de buen sabor, algunas son muy escasas, como la mojama , que esta cortada excesivamente fina para rellenar la tabla o la de setas que es muy corta de cantidad. Sin embargo la ración de anchoas es excelente en contenido y categoría y los fingers de bacalao en tempura también. Respecto a los vinos, en mi opinión y experiencia vivida , creo que es mejorable, son en su mayoría vinos naturales ( muy a la francesa) y en nuestro caso no acertaron en las 2 primeras decisiones, indicando mas o menos nuestro gusto vinícola. Es de reseñar que la atención de Ana, fue excelente en todo momento, procediendo al cambio de la botella que no nos gusto y dándonos a probar algún otro hasta acertar mas o menos con nuestro gusto o apetencia, pero se espera algo mas de entendimiento en este aspecto o al menos esa fue la sensación. Yo al menos he visitado otras vinotecas, donde te ponen vinos diferentes en funcion de la elección culinaria que hagas y ni siquiera tienes que pensar o elegir, y llegas a la satisfacción y sorpresa que es lo que mayormente buscas en este tipo de establecimientos orientados al vino, probar algo diferente, que te sorprenda, dejarte llevar. Creo que en este punto pueden mejorar el servicio y el entendimiento del vino que puede tener el cliente. También considero que el vino que se sirvió, estaba algo caliente, e hizo falta cubitera, esto para un tinto no debería ser así. Creo que el sitio esta bien, volveré y le daremos otra oportunidad vinícolamente hablando y esperemos poder atinar con las raciones y sus cantidades de mejor forma, aun asi, esas 4 estrellas van, por que tiene su punto diferencial y eso...
