Restaurante Aroy Thai (Nuevos Ministerios) — Restaurant in Madrid

I'm always skeptical about each country's interpretation of Thai food, but this restaurant got it right. I've definitely had some less than typical versions, but this recipe was very delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the spice was just right; I was really glad that the noodles weren't mushy and that the spice balance was just right. There was also a slight sweetness to it which made it even better for me. I found this place after a quick maps search while I was waiting for a load of laundry to finish around the corner and this one was the only restaurant that was open from the ones that I saw. We didn't have a reservation, but that was no problem because the place was not very crowded. It looked like an 'average' Thai place (in a good way), with lovely decor and cute silverware with animals. The menu had English translations and many vegetarian, as well as multiple vegan, options. The staff was friendly and spoke enough English to make ordering a lot easier for us. Our food and drinks arrived quickly.

I ordered the vegetable stir fry with ginger. It was delicious! The vegetables tasted fresh and there was a lot of ginger in the dish to give it that tanginess. The portion size was good for me. We ordered from here since our regular thai restaurant, royal thai, was closed. The menu looked exacly the same, so we thought maybe they have the same owners. We found out quickly that this is probably not the case when we sat down to eat, since all the dishes taste very different, and not quite as good as our regular place.
