Don Quijote — Restaurant in Marbella

We had dinner at this restaurant in August and it was excellent! The food was excellent but it was their service that really stood out to me. We are from Chicago, don't speak Spanish and we had our sleepy/cranky 4 year old son with us. It'd been a long day and my husband and I were looking forward to a nice meal with a classy atmosphere. Don Quijote delivered. The hostess and waitress were accommodating and attentive and they gave us a good run down on the wine list. Noticing our son was a little crabby, a server named Osman (who speaks several languages BTW) came over and got him to laugh. He made our son feel super special and brought him a "kiddie cocktail" to make him feel like a "big boy". This place was the most expensive restaurant we've been to in our two weeks stay in Andalucia. We picked it by chance, when searching on the phone, from the car, a place to serve Spanish food. Their menu, however, is not based on the Iberic cuisine, but rather on a wider more international palette. Even so, we've not been disappointed one bit. Our luck was a wonderful man, Osman, our gracious waiter who managed to made the whole experience an amazing one. We have been coming here every year for 8 years and and it is one of our most consistently enjoyable eating experiences. Osman and the staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is excellent (I recommend the Chateau Haut Brion for two) and I love the fact they haven’t tried to tinker with the menu too much. Instead, they serve high quality ingredients cooked simply. The outdoors terrace is beautiful, the house wine is really good and not only do they cater for children but they really go out of their way to make the kids happy.
