I’m most certainly not a food critic and I’ll admit there are very complex dishes which I would miss the subtle intricacies therein. But I take pride in my knowledge of what makes a great burger. I’ve eaten a burger on 6 continents and in dozens of countries, always explaining the secret like this:

The knowledge of what makes a great burger is very similar to the concept of understanding a language. You can only understand a language if you truly speak it.

I can take a single bite of a burger and know if the chef speaks my language or not. And while there is always room for improvement as is always the case, the chef at Dozlap Burger Lab speaks my language.

Went there for good reviews. Ordered nachos, double cheeseburger and small cheeseburger. Nachos were average at best, burger meat was dry and greasy at the same time.

We barely ate a third of the food we ordered, and decided to settle the bill and voice our disappointment. Instead of acknowledging our concerns, the restaurant staff dismissed them by saying that this was the type of meat they chose and suggested that we simply didn’t understand what good food is. In reality, the food was of poor quality and far from what anyone should consider acceptable. Don’t be misled by the perfect reviews — pay attention to whether the restaurant is actually busy. Dozlop absolutely blew us away – hands down one of the best smash burgers we’ve ever had. As someone from London, where smash burgers have taken off with places like Supernova and Junk, I can honestly say this was on another level. The meat quality is second to none – juicy, crispy-edged, and full of flavour – and the whole burger was perfectly put together. Fries were spot on too.
