El Meson — Restaurant in Marbella

We have been living on and off in Marbella for 28 years. We was recommended this restaurant 3 years ago . (Thank you so much to Daisy and Elliot who recommended it ) the lamb and the steak 🥩 is the very best on the whole of the Costa del Sol ,, me and my husband mark , come here at least once a month and bring new fun and family all the time and all of them say the same. We went two weeks ago with my daughter and her husband. And the steaks were to die for , great value too , we are taking 6 of our son’s friends thier again tonight as all of them love really good steak 🥩 and the 24 hour cooked legs of lamb 🐑 so incredibly good . Raul who owns the restaurant . Has such passion for cooking ,and only uses the very very best meat , that he hand picks himself, his mother does fantastic home made puddings that are so popular you have to pre order them two days in advance. I truly recommend you try this restaurant , once you have been you will be a regular....

Off the beaten track and in an area where people live, and tourists rarely venture (though it's a short walk from the old town), this is a gem that keeps its light under a bushel. It is not a place to take your vegetarian friends unless you feel the need to divest yourself of vegetarian friends (not a bad idea!). It has a short menu and a short, red only wine list; Let's face it, you're probably not going to want Albarino with your Entrecote. Hawksmoor should be quaking in their boots in case these guys decide to open in London. The quality of meat and execution of cooking are simply the best I have experienced. Front of house is uber friendly and, Gordon and Marco take note, the chef could not be more ingratiating. My only disappointment was that we did not get time to revisit. Next year...if we can...

Te llevas una sorpresa cuando ves la cuenta. Pero de las malas.. Estuve anoche, cena para 2 personas. Tengo que decir que la atención bien. Llegamos y la camarera nos dijo en qué mesa sentarnos (muy pegada) a las otras dos mesas, pero Raúl (el dueño) se dio cuenta y enseguida dijo de montarnos otra mesa. Yo le insistí en que no era necesario, que nos sentábamos en otra que había más apartada, pero me dijo que no, que estaba debajo de un árbol y caían cosas y que no tardaba nada en montar la otra. Hasta ahí todo bien. La camarera muy simpática, atenta y servicial también. De comer pedimos unas gambas al pilpil, unos champiñones rellenos y queríamos pedir un chuletón para compartir, pero como no lo teníamos muy claro, la chica nos recomendó pedir un entrecot y una presa ibérica. Pues bien, eso hicimos. De beber, dos tintos de verano y dos cervezas. Cuando pedimos la cuenta, no se entendía nada, lo único que se veía claro, es que eran 75€ por unas cuántas gambas al pilpil, 6 champiñones rellenos, una presa ibérica y un entrecot con un puñado de patatas y un pimiento en cada plato. Más las dos pintas y los dos tintos (encima ya hechos, de botellín de La Casera). Sinceramente, me parece una PASADA, porque por 40€ por persona, me habría ido a otro sitio. Además, a posteriori, me doy cuenta de que me han cobrado 3 tintos de verano cuando fueron dos. Como digo, en la cuenta no se veía a qué correspondía cada precio, o sea que pudieron poner lo que quisieron. No fuimos capaces de decir nada, nos quedamos cortados. Fui hace unos años por primera vez y recuerdo haber comido más y no haber pagado tanto. Además tenían carta. Ahora ves los platos en una pizarra, pero nada del precio por ningún lado, así creo que luego te cobran lo que vean.. Mira que pasamos por la puerta y nos fuimos, porque había solo 2 personas y me pareció raro, y no era precisamente temprano como para tan poca gente. Y leí un comentario en el que ponía CARO y nos íbamos a ir a otro sitio, pero una amiga que viene asiduamente, me dijo que no, que entrara que no me arrepentiría y que estaba bien de precio. Supongo que nos cobraron a precio de guiri... Ahora entiendo por qué tan vacío (es verdad que luego si llegó gente). Siento la extensión, quería comentar bien la experiencia. Que...
