Usually an ok place to get simple food and drink in a good spot in La Cala. Not sure if it’s new ownership or just new staff, but there is a definite need for customer service training. The guy taking the orders (tattoos on face hands and arms. Nothing against tattoos but describing so you can avoid!!) was rude and dismissive when we asked for a black coffee with a small jug of milk so we could add to taste. Then when the cappuccino came out with thick whipped cream on top he didn’t seem interested in hearing that one of our group didn’t want all of the whipped cream and ignored any eye contact when we tried to get a replacement coffee (that we were wanting to pay for). He knew we wanted a replacement but seemed intent on ignoring us and avoiding coming near us to hear our repeated request when it still didn’t materialise after 20 minutes of gesturing and requesting another coffee. He then continued to ignore us when trying to pay the bill, almost as if he was trying to punish us for having coffee preferences that he didn’t agree with or didn’t want to accommodate. I gave up trying to pay him in the end and went inside the cafe to pay at the till and the couple behind the counter seemed put out that we were trying to pay inside and were not paying the useless waiter outside. With so many options in La Cala I will choose elsewhere to get coffee in future and if the staff can’t sort their attitude out I suspect others will choose...

We were completely ignored at first, and when we tried to ask for help, someone literally shouted at us to “WAIT!” — as if we were somehow bothering them by existing. The attitude was rude, unprofessional, and honestly embarrassing for a place that claims to serve the public.
We ended up leaving and went to the gelateria next door, where—surprise—they were polite, welcoming, and actually wanted our business. Don’t waste your time here unless you enjoy being treated like a nuisance. One star...
