Last night in La Cala de Mijas and we did a lot of research to make sure our last meal of the holiday was extra special. No time for mediocre food. I am so glad we found this place, everything was excellent from the food to the service.
We shared Poppadoms and Dips to start. The best part of any meal in my opinion. The Spiced Onions looked homemade which was a nice touch, they tasted very fresh. A decent portion as well.
The menu was extensive with a large range of tandoori dishes and curries. We both went for something different that we havent seen back home. Laura had the Chicken & Cheese Tikka which was served on a sizzling platter with onions and peppers. She also added a side of Masala sauce and Egg Pilau Rice to accompany her main. I ordered the Keshuri Chicken which was coated in a cashew nut sauce. It was gorgeous, paired with a Side Salad and Mixed Raita. Of course we had a naan bread to share and chose the Garlic & Cheese Naan.
The service was spot on, the wait staff kept our glasses topped up with Cava and offered us a shot on the house to finish our meal. The restaurant was busy which is always a good sign. We were deafted by the meal as the portion sizes were very generous, this would be ideal for sharing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaving eaten at many restaurants in Mijas, we decided to have dinner at Sai & it was the best decision we made, as the food, drinks, desserts & service were outstanding. We started with refreshments, ordering a bottle of the house white wine & still mineral water. We then ordered poppadoms, which came with dips, whilst we reviewed the extensive menu. There are the usual favourites, plus a good selection of chef specials. We chose the chicken korma, the chicken Tikka madras, saag aloo, naan bread, pilau rice & boiled rice. Hot dinner plates were then placed on the table, in anticipation of the food being brought out by our waiter. The food looked fantastic & tasted just as it looked - fantastic! The flavours, the aromas, the spices were perfect. After finishing our meal, we just had to order dessert & chose the pistachio kulfi & gulab jamon. Both were divine. Additionally, throughout our dining experience, it was good to see the waiters checking in with us, to see if there was anything else we needed & if everything was ok. Excellent service standards, which other restaurants should take note of. Thank you Sai for a wonderful evening. You are definitely now our "go-to"...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant was recommended to us and we chose to stay in La Cala for a night in a hotel to go here for a special birthday meal. Sadly the experience wasnt too good for us. The table was too small, we were sitting by a mirror that slid open and we had a constant stream of staff keep passing us and it was like sitting in a corridor. The food we ordered only popadums and a starter to ensure food did not come fast and held the main course ordering till later. They literally in minutes brought the popadums and the starter at the same time. We felt rushed plus couldnt even fit it on the table and then they took the starter away so we could enjoy our popadums and when it returned it had been heated up as cucumber and lemon was hot . Totally ruined the special occasion. We ordered our main but the service and ambiance had ruined the evening already. We wil not rush back at all there are so many more better restaurants out there on the coast than this. We do live in Spain in Cordoba so paying for a hotel for a restaurant meal just seemed sad after they ruined our night by sloppy service trying to get us in and out fast with no care to...
