Recent addition to La Cala, this place is tucked away in a side street, it offers traditional Spanish fare with a modern twist. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food freshly made. There is a lovely courtyard at the back, shaded from the sun in the day and repaired from the evening sea breezes. A great new addition to La Cala! Found out this year that this great tapas restaurant has had to close as the landlord has doubled the rent. This cannot be the only place to have experienced this unjustified increase in rent. La Cala authorities/Chamber of Commerce should intervene in such cases where a business is as successful as this one, offering a welcome twist to the staple diet provided by the established chiringuitos and restaurants in La Cala, not wishing to disparage them, we also frequent them, however, this family concern was much loved by regulars and newbies alike, there was no need for it to be priced out of the market; I can only assume that the rent increase was driven by personal gain in the landlord's favour. Where is the support for businesses like this among the powers that be in La Cala? No doubt the landlord will find some glitzy, Puerto Banus wannabe to take its place, such a shame! Long...
Read moreBeen a regular at this restaurant throughout the years since it opened and always well treated until today. Walked in with my physically challenged daughter, said good evening to the waiter behind the counter and asked for a table for two for a quick meal. The same waiter (not even saying good evening back) said they had no table despite 5 tables open. Apparently all reserved. We walked out - first time as a local that we’ve been turned back. After 50 minutes I went past the restaurant and noticed that the same tables were still open, clearly they didn’t want to attend a local in those 50 minutes that transpired. It’s a pity that when it comes to the tourist flux, the locals that support the local establishment through out the year are unimportant, if they don’t want my business during the tourist flux then they won’t get it any other day of the year. Many locals feel the same and speaking to a friend that lives here also had a similar experience recently....
Read moreI wish I liked it more than I did. Loved the Rosè Wine!
The Ensalada Russia was very plain and didn't have Pickles, Carrots, peas to add flavour. The bread all the food came on wasn't great for me, plain square bread with oil, I thought it was on some nice crispy bread or pichos as some of the past photos. Lamb skewer was nice, strong manchego tasty but the service was very slow and inconsistent. Food comes as ready which I understand but took a long long time to get everything and just had the Russian salad for ages before being given bread.
The guys were very nice so in future I would go back for wine and cheese maybe...
