Devine’s TEX MEX — Restaurant in Mijas

To check the attention to detail check the title. They didn't check they spelled their own name right, along with half the menu. The service was painfully slow. 55 minutes from seating to service of pre-prepared starter. Most often all the staff were lingering around the pass. One professional waiter/ess could have done the whole place better. The menu was an 80s tribute act. Most of it wasn't coherent dishes, it was some food on a plate. The staff were surface friendly but still seemed to see the customers as an annoyance. It ended with a 'free' drink that a little market research would have shown them wasn't helping, ie: almost everyone left it. Unappetising goo. Even the bill was slow to arrive. A minor consolation, it wasn't value cos it wasn't good but it wasn't expensive either. Devine's is far from divine. Tip to the owners. A lot of places react badly to negative reviews but I can tell you how to stop...

I used to live in La Cala and Calahonda a few years ago but I have never visited this place. We stumbled across this place and the steak deal drew us in and Hassan who was front of house gave us a warm welcome. The deal was 2 Steaks (fillet or sirloin) and a bottle of wine for 48€ We had both Steaks and they were cooked perfectly and very tender, i had the baby rosemary potatoes and my lady had a salad to go with the steaks. We chose the red wine which was an easy drinking 13.5% I love gambas pil pil so we had one to share as a starter and that too was really nice, especially with the toasted fresh bread that came with it. Wow, just had one of the best meals I’ve had whilst in Spain.

I had the sirloin on the stone (absolutely fabulous quality meat, naturally cooked to perfection), and the missus had the chicken stir fry, she loved it (I tried it and also loved it).

Very friendly staff, very attentive, cold beer, fabulous food what more could you want?

Update: Went back a week later with the kids in tow, and we all concur that the food and service is fabulous here.

Further update: Once again visited Divine's and found the food to be exemplary and the service friendly and attentive. We have tried many of the dishes now and everything is fresh and tasty, (I ventured on to the specials board and had the Goulash, so glad I did).

Safe to say that they still deserve...
