La Gamba Torrenueva — Restaurant in Mijas

Visited this restaurant with my wife for dinner. It is a small restaurant just off the A7 in Torrenueva. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is nice and cosy with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The waiting staff are super friendly and welcome you with a smile. The food is exceptional. The flavours are perfectly blended, providing the perfect flavour for the food. We only had tapas, which gave us a good idea of the different meats and flavours, and the chef did an exceptional job getting those flavours right. On top of that, it is extremely good value for money and well worth visiting. I suggest calling first though as they are always busy, which is a great sign of the quality too. Food highlights included, the Korean Chicken Wings were great, and the Pulled Chicken Sliders are definitely worth a try. Lastly, you have to try the Apple Tart Tartare. It looked as good as it tasted. My only gripe would be the La Gamba Prawns. They come in a creamy sauce with mushrooms and prawns. This is the chef's own recipe, and the taste was excellent. Unfortunately, there were only three prawns in the dish, with the rest being mushrooms. I did expect at least four even in a tapa. Other than that, everything was perfect. Outstanding Tapas and Service – A Hidden Gem!

We stumbled upon this authentic Spanish restaurant on our last night—and what a find! Specialising in tapas and small plates, the menu was packed with tempting options. We were a little overwhelmed at first, unsure what to choose or how much to order, but the young waitresses were absolutely fantastic. Friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful, they guided us through the menu and made spot-on recommendations that turned out to be perfect for our group.

Every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented—and while the focus is on tapas, my son had a steak that he’s still talking about! The quality was outstanding, and the value for money was honestly hard to believe.

It’s a real shame we only discovered this place on our final evening, as we’d have loved to come back and explore more of the menu. The staff are a true credit to the restaurant, and the whole experience was a memorable end to our trip.

We've been twice in the last 2 weeks after a recommendation from my partners' mum, who eats there a lot.

The first time the food was great, so obviously we returned.

Firstly the food is very good and extremely well priced.

We didn't book either time so had to sit outside which was extremely hot (and obviously our own fault for not booking)- last night the table had to be back by 7.15pm; we got there at 5.15, so that was ok - but having been told there were no tables inside available (which has AC), and then seeing the same empty tables stay empty during our meal was a bit frustrating.

Secondly, the staff were really unwelcoming last night and we both left feeling like we'd been an inconvenience. It was difficult to order drinks and we were told to "wait a minute" when trying to order food. Overall it was just awkward.

I believe the owner wasn't on-site last night, so that might be why there was a difference in...
