Sorry to say we had a bad experience here, I booked a table for 6 for dinner outside, when I arrived there were no outside tables, I asked to check if the waiter had our reservation and it was in the book, i expressed my dissatisfaction but the waiter simply shrugged his shoulders. We sat until a table large enough became available and ordered some drinks, as an expat living here, I'm trying to talk more Spanish the waiter scowled at me with a long 3 second stare, my partner and I could not understand, so I went in and apologised to the waiter for saying anything he thought was out of turn, he said he didn't like the way I ordered and he had a hard day people buying food and drinks and he also apologised to me. Meguiñez has a great ambiance. However, I neither felt welcome or unwelcome. I was dining alone. Ordered Prawns Pil-Pil, followed by steak. Perfectly acceptable. A friend joined me for a drink. I ordered a further two after dinner drinks, but was told, "no, we are closed". The time was 9.28pm! They advertise they are open until 11pm! Most people enjoy a digestive and a coffee after a meal, having spent not an inconsiderable amount of money. Disappointing. The music I think was for the benefit of the staff, and not the clients. We have eaten here twice within our 5 week stay and are going back the evening before we fly home.We had paella one evening, it was perfect, the staff were so friendly and helpful, encouraging my husbands with his Spanish language speaking, we ask for a coffee made with liquor 43, they said they didn’t do it but was more than happy to Google it and make one for us, it was perfect.
