Shelley is one of my favourite people within the service/food industry in this area. Not only is the Sunday lunch(I had the gawjuss Beef 🥩) wonderfully tender and tasty, it was delivered within minutes of being ordered, and just the spuds, York pudd an stuffing filled the plate, the veg came separately. Which for me is a nice touch as you can enjoy the main stable of the plate then add veg with the space created with what you’ve eaten. Pudding was Apple Crumble with cream and ice cream 🍨, which again was amazing.
However what really made it for me was the way she approached and treated my 45kg rescued American BullDog Derek. She treated him immediately with the same mindset as she does her Hooman customers. 1st thing she asked, before asking us what we wanted, does the dogs want water or anything else. That for me set the tone as it meant treating us ALL the same. My dog is my world an she put the stamp of service detail on him the same way she done for us.
I’ve worked in the service industry and it can be a real hit and miss sometimes with food. But just her whole approach leaves me feeling like we were there as friends in her home having lunch, that’s the vibe she creates.
It’s almost like one doesn’t wanna share it with others and kinda keep it secret so it don’t get big enough where it’s packed an ya can’t get a table(I jest obvs 🙄) but it’s an amazing all round top notch gaff for Sunday lunch. Parkings ample, sea is 2 min walk away but best part was Derek was allowed there and treated with love and care just like us…. That for me speaks volumes about the whole experience. She’s also bang on with banter, and suffers no bollo%€’s…..😀
If you want a home cooked Sunday lunch like yer mum done for ya religiously when you were a kid(for me anyway) then you won’t find a better place than here! It’s as...
Read moreOnce again a visit to The Restaurant fulfills all expectations. We introduced our friends to this amazingly consistent restaurant Shelley and Carl produce an excellent evenings dining from a small kitchen and an expanded dining room with outside dining space. There , in my opinion, is it's appeal. It retains an intimate feel but large enough to accommodate most parties. Carl in the kitchen is totally on show and excells, whilst Shelly, single handedly runs front of house. Naming dishes seems rather pointless when all are first rate but we enjoyed starters of Prawn and Mushroom, Prawn and Apple cocktail, Mackerel pate. Mains consisted of Lamb fillet, Fillet steak, Scallop and Prawn Mornay and Pork loin in Apple and celery crust. The menu is quite far reaching but not pretentious. The quality is excellent and the welcome is warm and genuine. Booking in advance is advisable. We always enjoy our visits here and while we may not be actual friends of Carl and Shelley, they always remember us on our...
Read moreWe dined yesterday at The Restaurant for Sunday lunch; where do I start?Shelley and Carl are the nicest people, always with a ready smile and genuinely concerned that their guests are having a great time. The food is always prepared fresh, served piping hot and is as mouth wateringly tasty as it is plentiful. It is without doubt my favourite restaurant on the coast, and I have not visited once where I have left either disappointed or hungry! If you live here and haven't tried it you are missing out. If you are on holiday (remember those?) then go early in your stay as I absolutely guarantee you will return again. Thanks as always for a lovely day yesterday, we will see...
