Its proximity to the Mayan Monkey Chocolate Factory and a fortuitous internet search led us to Tomillo Limon, in Mijas pueblo. A big plus to this area is their large and affordable parking lot (1 € for the day) which leads to the main plaza, only a couple of minutes’ walk to the restaurant.

Tomillo Limon is a couple of blocks away from the main plaza, and was empty when we arrived at 2pm last Saturday. It has a small outdoor terrace facing the street but we chose to eat inside as it was very hot. The temperature and the ambiance inside were welcoming, as were the two servers who led us to our table. I ordered a mint lemonade, and my husband ordered a Spanish sidra. We were both happy with our refreshing drinks.

The menu is quite eclectic, from Spanish and Andalusian classics to Asian favorites, to fusion dishes. Allergens are noted and there’s plenty of gluten free dishes to choose from. We first ordered the fried chicken strips for our 7-year-old and they came perfectly cooked, with a lovely breading. Our son ate them all. In the meantime, we ordered some tapas that started coming out slowly, enticing our appetite…

The portions were generous, and each dish was cooked to perfection. The croquetas de bacalao (cod fish croquettes) had great texture and flavor, the Sri Lanka chickpeas tasted delicious with a hint of turmeric and other aromatic spices (we even took leftovers home!). Their bao with pulled pork was soft, moist, and very well balanced.

There was nothing silly about their “paparruchas”. We had not tried this dish before and decided to give it a go. It is a simple dish, but very well made: potatoes with cream, streaky bacon, and parmesan cheese. The portion was big and filling, but it was the flavor that kept us going. So delicious!

Last but probably the best dish we tried were the gambones at Pil Pil. We like this dish and have tried it in many places before. But this time, at Tomillo Limon, it was different. So much so that we asked the chef how he prepared it and he corroborated what we were thinking: he makes a consomé (broth) with the heads of the prawns that he adds to the oil and garlic sauce. Pure umami! Highly recommend to seafood lovers.

The bill came and it was great value for all the goodness we had just eaten. We left Tomillo Limon with happy hearts, full bellies, and a...

OMG 👎What a disappointing evening spent at the Tomillo Limon . 19/09/23 . We decided to eat at this establishment solely on the previous reviews . On arrival we were lucky enough to be seated immediately by the pleasant front of house staff .We ordered drinks ,then our food . The restaurant was busy but not full .After an hour of watching food being taken to customers that had arrived long after us . We raised our concerns with the waiter who looked embarrassed and said the food would be with us soon. Another 30 mins + went by . I then asked for the bill for the drinks as the food had still not arrived even though all around us were finishing their meals and leaving . The waiter brought out one of our meals and tried to explain the delay was not his fault . And that the remaining meals would arrive shortly .We think the owner of the restaurant was also the cook . We don’t know if or order was just forgotten or what I suspect is we were not part of the regular crowd .Just one off holiday makers .Who would just have to wait . Very disappointed would not recommend. Hope this helps save somebody wasting...

I cannot tell you how good the food is and what great value you get here! The service too, perfection! Every year we come, and sit outside and devour some of the best food we've ever had anywhere in the world. This year we had Paparruchas, chicken gyoza's, fried chicken strips x2, hot dog x2, gua bao, green asparagus with lemon and Parmesan, table of grilled steak, gratin provolone cheese and not a scrap was left by any of us. I make my own Gyoza at home but Tomillo Limon puts me to shame! And the platter of steak complimented by the paparruchas.... So so tasty, i'll be dreaming of it for a long time!

My kids couldn't get enough of the fried chicken strips (which, by the way, are not anywhere close to the frozen deep fried garbage you get at most places... These are fresh and quirky and delicious!) and their hotdogs were annihilated in minutes! The bill came to €76 with a bottle of wine, coffee and 10 tapas (including the huge steak) & I dare anyone to find better quality and value anywhere else! We'll be back and thank you again for by far the best meal of...

It's exactly the kind of local independent restaurant you'd think should cook straight to your heart. But sadly, they struggle with consistency. We came at 7:00 PM as they opened and ordered potatoes, croquettes, ribs, entrecôte, and asparagus salad. The croquettes were excellent. However, the asparagus salad consisted of just two green asparagus and two red onions. Apparently they didn't have enough asparagus and improvised, so we received these half-seared and half-raw onions instead. The ribs were tasty, though unfortunately the BBQ sauce was more like upscale ketchup and lacked any real seasoning. Finally came the entrecôte, which was so tough that it was the first steak I've ever had to send back to kitchen. I must say they did remove it from the final bill. The service gave their best.

I do not write much comments, but this place is worth every good word! So spread it! Everything here is very tasty! There is plenty of choices for everyone, especially if you are vegan/vegetarian and every plate has it's sinchronity of products/herbs. They are preparing it by themselves so no cheap supermarket food here :) I recommend to try as much as you can so sharing is must do here! On a cold day we took a shot of whiskey which they have a wide variety of and for a good prices. Personnel is very pleasant and helpful. The place style is cozy.

We were eating two times at this place. Both times was a great success. First visit we ordered 5 tapas and 3 main courses for 5 people. The food was great, only "but" we ordered too much food. Second time we ordered 3 tapas and two main dishes. Great. The service is super. Both ladies smiling while serving the 10+ tables. The kitchen is small, but the food they is superb. The menu is not big, but we could find new dishes both times. Advise book your table early in the day.
