ÚNICO BEACH RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Mijas

Came here once for drinks and once for the pool party. The first time here it was really quiet in the evening, which we found pretty odd, as it was peak season. Second time was for the pool party, listen: it's OKAY. I know this isn't Marbella but it's actually a very pretty place. The beds are super comfy and they offer shade if you want it. The pool is very warm so, meh. However, the employees, ostiaaaa, they are LAZY. There's no sense of urgency, they all just hang out outside of the restaurant to the side and gossip, not caring about their clients. Several people from the pool lounge area went to eat lunch in the seating area and had to physically walk to the employees in order to be attended. The funny thing is the night before we reserved we asked if they had loungers left and they said "only one", there were sooo many loungers not used that day, and we stayed until 7pm (closing). The food menu isn't great, we took the advice from the people who had lunch there and went to get it elsewhere and came back. The music was a little dodgy, there was no DJ as advertised. The price isn't terrible as it came with a bottle of cava or sangria and we were staying about 8 min drive away. If you're staying really local check it out. However, I definitely won't be back. We went there for San Juan. I arrived first as I was waiting for my husband. I ordered a drink, waiter came back after about 5 minutes and rudely said do you have cash, we are not taking cards, I had cash and told him so. When I looked around other people were paying by Card. My husband arrived it took ages for anyone to serve him a drink. We ordered a 2nd drink each, husbands drink was incorrect so we sent it back and the correct drink arrived after another 10 minute or so wait in a plastic cup, he asked for it in a glass and was told they were not serving anymore in glasses, other people were receiving drinks in glasses, I asked were my coffee was, not serving coffee. Other people were being served coffee. Waiter put our bill on the table for the drinks we had had. The waiters were very rude each time they spoke to us and made us feel very unwelcome. We were going to order food but decided to pay for our drinks and leave. We found somewhere else to eat and enjoy San Juan with a few Jack Daniels and cokes after our meal. So this place missed out on a fair bit of money that night and we won't be going back...

We had a great day at the beach club, 4 ladies, 2 beds, lovely sangria.

Had lunch it was really nice, not too over priced for a beach club.

Cocktails fab to, and again price wise cheaper than some pubs around la cala.

Surroundings are beautiful.

Music good and not too loud.

Staff overall really nice, very attentive, but not breathing down your neck trying to sell.

The only blip we had was at the end of our visit, a waitress (who hadn't been there all day).... Gave me the bill, I checked it, it was 100% accurate... Got ready to pay.. She then snatched the bill from me, replaced it with a bill, with an additional 100 euro....

Despite me telling her the original bill was accurate she crumpled the bill and insisted the replacement bill was ours...

I spoke to the lovely waitress who had served us all day, she sorted it.

This was a bit embarrassing but was fixed in the end.

That one person and her attitude is the only reason, I did not give 5 stars.
