If you don’t see a problem with a restaurant kitchen using a microwave oven for anything, then this place was made for you.
When I got there, while trying to find where the toilet was, I stumbled upon the semi-open kitchen. That’s where I saw the microwave, and where I spotted one helping hand peeling potatoes while holding them over the wheeled black garbage container that is used to take the trash out. The helper was keeping both peeled and unpeeled potatoes close at hand, under the mis-en-place of the salad station, directly on the counter. The floor was littered with potato and onion peelings mixed with discarded carrot ends.
I’m not Greek. Still, the gyros I was served stirred strong pro-Greek nationalist feelings in me. I felt deeply ashamed for the Greek, who did nothing so wrong that would justify such an offence.
All meals were served with salt. A lot of it.
The service was ok. The staff is sufficiently friendly and solicitous enough. They could not make a recommendation if their lives depended on it, though. I can’t blame them; it is impossible to sell what you can’t deliver.
The atmosphere is a very serious warning that you are about to enter Circe’s lair in Gran Canary. Much like what happened to Odysseus’ crew, your carelessness might result in you being transformed into a swine. Symbolically speaking, obviously.
I can’t be clearer on this: consider going hungry, it is a better alternative...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant the final night of our holiday hoping for one final great meal, unfortunately our expectations were NOT met. We ate chicken gyros, we were served 3 small burnt wraps intended to accommodate 2 meals… the chicken was flavoured nicely however it was dry and chewy. The chips..they were not cooked or seasoned nicely, they tasted as if reheated or cooked in oil very overdue a change. Our soft drinks were bottled and served in a giant pint glass with one ice cube and a straw
The staff were friendly at first, but then were pushing past our chairs and barging into them as so many (empty) tables are crammed in. They used the end of our tables to lay things off of other tables in the process of clearing and relaying tables while we were trying to eat our meals.
In the end both meals were left half finished and we paid and left…the staff did not ask if anything was wrong with our meals and instead hurried to clear the plates before anyone could notice our dissatisfaction. I am not usually one to complain and left without fuss but felt this review was needed. I believe it was clear we were not happy with our food, so instead of asking if everything was okay we were instead ignored. I would not recommend this...
Read moreDisappointed. After reading mostly good reviews for this restaurant and having the option of Greek food we chose to come. The restaurant was busy which was a good sign however the service completely let the evening down. The waiter appeared more concerned in regards of getting people in then the comfort. We were given a table which was clearly for staff as it had ordering pads on and was not clearly set up for dinning. In order to get to the seat other dinners had to stand for us to get past. The waiter then left and was gone a while before anyone offered us a menu or checked if we wanted anything to drink. Later on in the evening yet another table was squeezed in behind us and we were asked to move the table ourselves to accommodate them, when I explained to the waiter we would be unable to get out of the table his response was that we would again have to move the table ourselves. Food was okay basic for what it was although average for a meal out. Female member of staff who I assume may be the owner was very polite and kind. Based on the waiters service and inconvenience alone we would not...
