El Viejo y el Mar — Restaurant in Palma

after more than a week touring around Mallorca, I realized the only good authentic food scene is pretty much just in Palma, speaking from a real foodie who has travelled around the whole world. Other regions are mostly tiny towns with a few touristy traps serving German and English tourists. This is a very authentic Galician seafood place, full of local clients. We ordered razor clams, red prawns both amazing, octopus and squids were nice too. Make sure you save some room for homemade dessert. Cheesecake and almond cake were great. We were looking for a place to have dinner before we start the Lluc a peu and found this place in the area. We got there half an hour before the starting time of the walk. There are only 2 guys running the show but it was so efficient that nobody has any complaints in the restaurant. We ordered croquetas, scallops and the stuffed peppers with tuna. The food was amazing and the service was so efficient. The price was reasonable. Siento mucho poner esta reseña pero fui con mucha ilusión de quitarme el antojo a zamburiñas y pulpo en particular y la experiencia no ha sido buena. Las zamburiñas a 16€, aunque no eran malas las estropearon con vinagre de módena, las navajas a 18€ eran longueiróns y muy escasos (es posiblemente la clavada más grande), el pulpo a 19,50€ era malo y estaba mal cocinado y mal aderezado, seco, sin pimentón picante y escaso aceite de oliva, es la peor ración en cuanto a calidad que he probado jamás (estaba recalentado??? no me lo explico si no es ese el motivo), el lacón también de mala calidad... y las patatas no se podían ni comer de lo avinagradas que estaban.... el pan se cobra aunque no se coma (era pan de barra, no gallego). Lo positivo fue el albariño que estaba bueno y los pimientos que aunque no eran de padrón estaban bien preparados en fritura y sal gorda, además de tener un precio correcto. Damos muchas oportunidades a Mallorca y esperábamos haber encontrado un restaurante gallego de verdad, pero no ha sido así, y el dueño lo sabe. El pulpo que nos ha servido estoy segura que él no se lo comería.Y las patatas ...una pena. No lo recomendamos como gallegos que somos. Hemos probado otros sitios que aunque no han sido excelentes han estado más a la altura que éste. Lo siento de verdad... no me gusta poner malas reseñas pero es que me ha parecido...
