La terrazza — Restaurant in Palma

Absolutely horrific! Food bad… service even worse- recommend to avoid!!

Due to only 2 members of staff working and one only speaking any English at all, didn’t get drinks for a while. We ordered the paella when it came just was slammed down on the table- my partners drink was empty and before we could ask, the waiter had gone. The paella dish was clearly put under the grill prior to serving which is great for keeping the dish hot however due to the sticking out handles, we burnt our arms a few times- suggest maybe napkins as we couldn’t move the dish.

Food was horrific… paella was soggy and bland. No bowl to put the shells of the prawns and shrimps into. The squid as my partner put it was a rubbery as a flip flop. Staff no where to be seen, My partner took one taste and wanted to send it back. Staff ignored us and just carried on… oh wait sorry no standing on their phones!!

We had had enough so I got up to get the bill from the waiter stood on his phone and told him that the food was not good and we aren’t happy. He started going off in Spanish, I do speak little Spanish and knew exactly what he was saying… trying to tell me “I don’t understand, I don’t get what your saying, this can’t be true” when I replied to him in Spanish he was far from happy. Told him food was awful and not what we would expect, and his attitude even worse! He said “payment please”, we got to the point where we gave up and as I went to get my card out he lurched towards me with the card machine without me checking and took the contactless payment, I did use a few choice words as that was it for me, I was more than angry in which he knew…. Then had the confidence to laugh in my face and walk of!

Personally I think this place needs new staff and a new lease of life… it has such a beautiful setting. If food was nicer and staff certainly nicer this place would be great! Management… I’d take...

Ate here twice while on holiday. Food was great, staff were polite and lovely location. I have to say that while it of course made it easier that our waiter the first time happened to speak English (I am still learning Spanish), I personally don't understand the issue with other staff perhaps not speaking English as well - this restaurant is, in however tourist-y an area, still in Spain, after all, and we managed just fine on our second visit served by different staff. Lovely view and kind service, but only one waiter (out of four) understood and spoke english. Spanish and Italian only. Pizza and Antipasti was quite good. Sadly our Spagetti Cabonara was more like Spagetti and scrambled egg, furthermore the taste was rather „unusual“. Even though we retourned the meal immediately, the (very harsh and uncomprehending) manager wanted to force us to pay for it. In total a quite sad and unpleasant experience to say...
