When you arrive at the hotel, you are warmly welcomed. The building has a modern appearance and is very clean. Thereâs always a fresh scent in the air, giving the place a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere.
The lobby offers a relaxed seating area with plenty of available spots. The hotel isnât too large, which makes the service feel personal very quickly.
The facilities at the hotel are excellent. There is a gym on the lower floor, equipped with Technogym machines which is top quality. Everything you need for a good workout is available. Thereâs air conditioning, so even on warm days itâs comfortable to exercise.
The swimming pool is large enough and very clean, and the same goes for the terrace. In fact, the entire hotel is constantly kept clean, which is a big plus. If you want to get a sunbed, youâll need to reserve one early with a towel by around 7:30â8:00 AM. After that, you may need to wait until the afternoon. There are also luxurious Bali beds available (see video), which can be rented for âŹ40 per day.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Everything you need is nearby: thereâs a supermarket right across the street, and a bus stop in front of the hotel. From the pool area, you can walk straight onto the beach. Thereâs also greenery around the pool area, which is rare for hotels along the strip.
You wonât be disturbed by drunken tourists those tend to be further down the road towards Arenal. From what Iâve seen of the other HM hotels on the strip, Tropical is the one to choose if youâre not into partying and would rather avoid running into drunk people in the evenings.
The main restaurant is a real highlight of this hotel. The themed dinner nights such as Mexican, Japanese, or Italian are excellent, especially for the price you pay.
Thank you to Carlos, the waitresses, and the chefs for your great service. A special thanks to my amigo Ali for the delicious eggs.
The rooms arenât very spacious, but theyâre big enough for a couple. Ours was cleaned properly every day. The water pressure in the shower is good, and the balcony is perfectly fine. Next time, I would book a front-facing room with sea view our side view barely showed the sea and mostly looked out over the street.
The rooftop terrace is also beautiful, offering stunning views over the bay. For a rooftop bar, the cocktails are reasonably priced and taste great.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for its location, the staff in the main restaurant, the pool area, and the easy access to the beach.
I had one minor issue during my stay, but the hotel manager resolved it quickly and...
Read moreI have to say it is with regret I write this.....Having stayed here three times before in 2022, our return this month was beyond disappointing. Arrival and check in was fine. The evening team in the restaurant were tired and rude. Neus (the member on waiting staff) told me off for sitting where I had seated our family as it was NOT for more than 2 guests and it would cause her a problem. This despite the restaurant (and hotel) being empty! ||||She then took drinks orders and said there was no Apple Juice, no sprite or lemonade and when we asked for Valpariso red wine she said none of this was available. She didn't apologise and just said it was because it was the end of the season and shrugged her shoulders. The dinner was average at best!||||The reception lady the next morning (Paola) was on duty when we came down at 8:15am after my husband had hardly slept due to the smell coming from the drain in the shower/toilet. She didn't make any apology and just said someone would have a look at it. 2 HOURS later when we could not be in the room, nor shower or use the bathroom, we came back to Paola to ask if this was being looked at, when she again seemed unbothered and said the housekeeping team work till 3pm and it would be looked at at somepoint. She then blamed us for not stating it was urgent???||||||As a family we felt the smell and fact we could no longer use the room, lack of care from the staff was completely unsatisfactory. To the point we again asked Paola what she could do. She was again un bothered and rude saying "I don't know what you want me to do, we have given you one of our best rooms" |||| We decided to check out a day early and when asked for some for of refund, given we would not be there for the night, nor dinner nor breakfast, she said this was not possible. ||||I asked to speak to the manager Joan and she said she/he was only in the hotel between 12 and 1pm - Nice Job!||||I felt at the very minimum it would have been fair to receive an apology or perhaps be offered a different non smelling room, maybe vouchers for drinks they DO have in stock in the bar....but alas, nothing. We left and found an absolutely beautiful hotel in Palma who are also about to close for the season and yet had a full compliment of stock and kind/friendly staff. ||||Paola was the lady on reception who dealt with the issue so poorly and with no apology and Neus in the restaurant - perhaps hotels is not the career for them. ||||I suggest you avoid and book another hotel...
Read moreOverall a nice visit to the HM Tropical. We stayed on a half board basis in a side room sea view for a week. The hotel is on the sea front, reasonably quiet with a few restaurants nearby and the beach is beautiful with sunbeds you can hire. Food: Breakfast was a buffet with a variety of food on offer - continental, hot food, pancakes, fruits, cereal and yoghurts. Evening dinner was buffet style with various options and on the whole satisfactory. My only complaint is that you have to pay for water with your meal, which personally I think water should be available for free. I don't object to paying additionally for wine etc. Restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient. The room: We had a side room sea view double. The room was not large, but was spacious enough for us. The en-suite was clean and the shower provided plenty of hot water, a hairdryer is supplied in the bathroom. Bath towels were provided daily. There was often a sewer smell though from the bathroom which meant we had to leave the window open at all times. There was a wardrobe with a safe in the room, however, there was a charge of £3.50 per day to use it! This seems steep when you are paying £250 per night for the room. It should be free. The balcony and view was somewhat disappointing. from the room looking out you could only see the road and the back of the hotel sited opposite and a fair amount of traffic noise. However, if you sit on the balcony at the furthest point, you can see the sea, but we didn't use the balcony as glass all round and it didn't seem secure and the noise wasn't relaxing.
The bar staff were excellent, very friendly and smiled throughout our stay. Reception were happy to help book tours and taxis.
There is use of a holding room for suitcases to store luggage if you check out late in the day. There is also a shower room you can use before you leave, however, there are 2 cubicles for women and only 1 shower was working. There isn't really a space to get dried or dressed so had to use a toilet cubicle. No hairdryer was available either.
All in all, a pleasant stay but there are some areas that need improvement as it did take away from the...
