This cafe has been our favourite in Puerto Pollença for many years. We are just back from another holiday in PP and unfortunately our experiences at Gran Café 1919 were not good. The cafe has doubled in size with the adjoining couple of shops added and the outside space doubled. However, our experience showed that the increase in size has resulted in poor service, long waiting times ( to be served and then waiting time to receive your order) and the coffees we received looked and tasted like they had been made by a novice and/or made in a hurry. Having had two poor visits/experiences we returned on our final day hoping for a return to older standards but having taken a seat in the new very posh shop area, we waited and waited for service but it didn't arrive. Honestly, and it pains me to say this, there was organised chaos among waiting staff with no sign of managers or supervisors trying to take control. The portion size seemed a little small to me, especially as we'd had breakfast somewhere nearby the week before for 3 EUR more and were served so much food we could barely finish it (including about 5 times the amount of salmon shown).
The coffee was good, although I switched to espresso for the my second as the milk wasn't my favourite.
Overall, I think they lean heavily on their location, and one can do better by walking a little further down the promenade. That being said, it's an okay option if you're in the area and everywhere...
Read moreWe enjoyed a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant at The Grand Cafe. Newly extended and refurbished for 2025 the Restaurant hasn’t lost the relaxed atmosphere that we experienced on previous visits. The service was excellent and attentive without being overbearing, we ordered a few dishes and wanted to share them, additional plates and serving spoons quickly appeared. The evening was a little cool and heaters and blankets were around allowing us to enjoy the outside space with the sea view sparkling in front of us. Food highlight was the beetroot and avocado rice dish, the classic mojito was also excellent. I would definitely recommend, and I will go back at lunch one day to order the ice cream sundae that I didn’t...
