Restaurante AVANTE CLARO La Cala del Moral. — Restaurant in Rincón de la Victoria

Well what can I say. A terrible lunchtime experience. Ordered the Gambas Pilpil, Bacalao Pilpil and Dorada. The prawns were the smallest I have EVER seen on the Malaga coast, overcooked and the "oil" it was based in, was disgusting, it should be butter with a small amount of olive oil, I am sure it was cooking oil, so absolutely no taste to a truly sickening flavor. The Bacalao came COLD, in a yellow gluttonous sauce, NOT Pilpil as described. Again less than average taste. But I will save the best to last, I tried to order 2 other dishes and they did not have them on the menu, but the staff did not know and had to return to the table twice to tell us this. Meanwhile after nearly 20 mins of waiting and trying to order, My wife went inside to choose something fresh, they recommended the fresh Dorado. What is so odd with this "restaurant" is there are more than enough staff, but they still seem to take the word "service" as if it is a chore. They were so quick talking, using local slang for dishes (good job I speak Spanish, but still....). They seemed disinterested and forgot most of our requests. So, back to the Dorado, the guy by the open fire put the fish on and then for 25 mins paid no attention to the fish no checking and no turning, we asked how long it would take to complete, he said at least another 20 mins. REALLY, a fresh fish (not frozen) was going to take nearly 50 mins on an extremely hot open fire (you would think he was cooking a shark!). So we called for the bill no less than 3 times, another 20 mins went by, we asked him to stop cooking the Dorado so we could leave. Then the last nail in the coffin... the price of the Dorado...60 euros... I kid you not! I could not believe this... a fish that costs about 6 euros was 54 euros more. Please do yourself a favor and ignore this awful tourist trap. Wish I could give this NO STARS. This is why certain establishments on the coast should be avoided. Really great impression! Good variety of dishes although specialise in sea food. Big portions in a very good price. Any dish we ordered was done to perfection and really tasty (even things I thought I would never try!) and served with original sublime garnish (sauce or sprinkle) that perfectly complements the main taste. Even the olive oil was such I was literally drinking it! If you want your meat done more, not a problem, they can take it back and make it to your liking without a blink. The service was really amazing. The stuff was very pleasant, understanding, attentive and working with you to make it a great experience. And it really was! An unbelievably inept performance from the waiting staff. Only brought two meals instead of three, and the two we got were separated by 10 minutes. Also the sides were bright out before the meal, so would've been cold if we had eaten them with the meal. Finally the third meal was delivered after we complained, but half of it was inedible. We sent it back, but when we finally received the bill we were charged for the bad meal. When we challenged the bill they claimed we should pay the full price because half was OK.
