Well we're on holiday in Spain and really enjoying the tapas. However every night on the way back to our apartment we walk past The Spice Hut Indian Restaurant and the cooking smells wafting out are enticing so we decide to give it a try. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting too much from this place. Typically an Indian restaurant in a holiday resort can make a good living serving up third rate spicy food to drunken tourists they're never going to see again. This place though dispelled all my preconceptions. When we arrived, the place was very quiet but soon that changed as customer after customer came in. Many were greeted by name like old friends, it was obvious this restaurant had a very loyal clientele. The waiter took our drinks order, a wine and a beer, and left us to peruse the menu. We decided on a couple of poppadoms each, I also ordered a Chicken Chat starter, which we followed with Chicken Rogan Josh and a Chicken Shashlik. The poppadoms arrived very quickly along with a pickle tray of mango chutney, mint yoghurt and a spicey onion chutney. The Poppadoms were fresh snd crispy, the pickles were tasty. My chicken chat arrived next, which was a mix of diced chicken pieces mixed together with a variety of diced vegetables in rich spicy sauce. I really enjoyed it. The mains came next my Shashlik arrived on a sizzling hot cast-iron platter and looked fantastic. My mum's rogan josh arrived in a metal serving bowl, we also had a pilau rice and a naan bread to share. I've had a lot of curries in a lof of countries and can honestly say this was one of the best. A little more burn 🔥 and it would have been my perfect curry. The naan bread was fresh and crisp and the pilau rice was well cooked. My Mum enjoyed her rogan josh too. I tried it and it was very nice. There is outside seating available but we chose to eat inside to take advantage of the aircon. The walls of the restaurant are festooned with post-it notes with the names and dates of previous satisfied customers. I would definitely recommend eating here if you...
Read moreBig shout out to Spice Hut, always the best Indian food we’ve ever had (and we used to live near Birmingham in the U.K., home of some of the best curry houses, but this is better). Service and quality impeccable as always, I have various food intolerances, and they tell me to choose any dish I like and they will make it for me without any of the allergens I’m sensitive to. Can’t ask for more than that and shows how freshly prepared the food really is. If they also offered a gluten free nan bread and gluten free beer I would give them 10 stars out of 5 haha ! But all in all, Laddy and his family run a good restaurant, always friendly, warm and welcoming.
Edit 29/08/2024 Just visited again and they have gluten free beer, so 10 out of 5 as promised ! (just praying for gluten free nan now 😉🙏)....
Read moreVisited the spice hut twice during our stay first was a takeaway second was an eat in. We hadn’t booked for our eat in but was able to sit inside. This wasn’t an issue for us as it was cool in there. Service was swift and the staff very friendly and spoke very good English. They brought us popadoms and sauce which was gratis and lovely, then the food arrived shortly after. It was all amazing and very tasty, far better than at home. We ordered lots but there were clean plates all round. I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re in the area. We would go again if we had the time....
