We had a fantastic time at the protur. Check-in was pretty swift and the reception staff were welcoming and friendly. We had two Jacuzzi suites on the 5th floor for our family of 7. The rooms were well equipped with all the usual amenities ie kettle, coffee, fridge containing soft drinks and water (all incl), hairdryer, robes and slippers. Be warned the hairdryer is akin to a gnat breathing on you! For all the women who miss mirrors and sockets being located in the same vicinity, no problems here. The Jacuzzi was great! Restaurants - the main restaurant was fine but food was same old same old and got a little boring after two days. They have a small section for the kids with pasta, chicken strips/nuggets, chips, etc. There are two other restaurants on site - Italian and Asian. I didn't rate the Italian at all however the Asian one was great and I would highly recommend. You must book at reception and only get one visit at each included within your stay. The pool bar is great for lunch time (found the food to be better than the main buffet restaurant) with paella, burgers, hotdogs, chips etc available at lunch and fresh meats/salads/ice cream and pastries available mid to late afternoon. There is also a drinks machine offering soft drinks and lager - self serve. Fridges are outside with a selection of ice lollies and ice creams which was great for the kids. Pools - there is a splash park to the right side of the hotel which was great for the younger ones with foutains and slides. Water is approx knee high at the deepest so the kids could play happily whilst parents sunbathed around the pool. Tip- if you do have kids this pool doesn't get very busy and you don't have any sunbed hoggers up at 6am putting their towels down so it's a great place to chill out and let the kids play. The main pool again wasn't really busy but the sunbeds around the pool are all taken (towels down) by 8am so you need to be an early riser to get a prime spot, other than that there is a wooden veranda just outside reception overlooking the pool which has approx 8 tables with chairs and parasols so you can sit here if the worst comes to the worst and the main hotel bar is just inside the doors. There is also an indoor pool as part of the spa but we didn't use this as you must purchase and wear swimcaps to use it! For anyone who loves to read there is an small library / bookswap area to the left of reception with two computers for hotel patrons to use. The hotel is located right on the beachfront and you can walk out the rear of the hotel onto the strip via a secure gate (you need your room key to get back in via this gate). The strip has a few restaurants and lots of street merchants selling various clothing, trainers (copies) and braiding etc. The beach is across the strip with loungers and parasols etc available (think a fee is involved). To the front of the hotel there are again restaurants, souvenir shops a pharmacy, spa and arcade. You can also hire either pedal cabs or battery powered motorbikes/scooters. The motorbikes were €20 per hour. This area is very quiet so don't expect a lively night out. Hotel entertainment was poor with singers, bands etc. Don't expect anything great and you won't be disappointed. There is a kids club with various activities going on including facepainting at 10pm (a little late considering they will be taking it off shortly after). A pianist plays in the main reception nightly. Overall the stay was great, would have been perfect if the entertainment was better, hence the 4 stars. I would definitely recommend the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful; In particular the reception staff, Javi (main bar) and a lovely server in the restaurant who my twin daughters adored, unfortunately I didn't...
Read moreWe hadn’t been to Spain in over 20 years so we thought we’d give it a go. Now it is advertised as a 5 star hotel but I think a 4 star would be more suited to this hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy but the rooms seems abit outdated and could do with a revamp. The rooms however are spacious and clean and the beds are very comfy. |Mini bar restocked every day with soft drinks and water. |The reception area is abit dark and dull but we didn’t spend much time there. |No welcome drink in arrival which is what we are use to at other hotels so that was slightly disappointing. Our room was not ready at check in and told us to come back an hour and abit later, luckily we went to ask about WiFi 15 minutes after check in and our room was ready !! |Restaurants: breakfast was your standard continental & hot items as well as churros etc |Lunch: we found the main restaurant to be abit hit and miss with the food at lunch however the pool bar was spot on. Every day there had been rotisserie chicken (delish) and some sort of paella which again absolutely lovely. Chips and jacket potatoes every day too. They also had scoop ice creams or Ice lollies/ice cream you could help yourself too. The drinks were available to help yourself to rather that going to the bar which is handy ! |Dinner: the main restaurant was not too bad. We did always find something to eat. Usually the grilled meats were spot on but always quite busy. |Food always hot and topped up regularly s no waiting around which was good. |We traveled with our 7 month old and I would advise you try the food before offering it to them as some of it was a little salty. |Japanese restaurant: food was lovely and hot, veg tempura just consisted of battered peppers more than anything else. |The shrimp noodles were extremely salty and felt like they had just been chucked in soy sauce. Service however was really good !|Italian : |The starters were okay. Not much choice. |Mains were also okay. Service was quite poor and we left without dessert as the ladies seemed to busy with other guests. |Pool area: nice and clean. Guests do reserve sunbeds early however you could always get one(not by the pool). |The pools were a nice temperature, specially after 3pm when heated by the sun. Lazy river was definitely a bonus to the hotel. |We celebrated my birthday whilst at the hotel, we did not make reception aware of this when we checked in however a lovely cake had been left in our room on the day which was such a sweet surprise!! ||Shops by the hotel if you fancy a walk in the evening. Plenty of bars and restaurants around too. ||The hotel does not have its own sunbeds on the beach so you would be paying to rent a sunbed if you wanted one. ||The themed night in the restaurant. Specially the Indian night was actually wrong as they had labelled some of the dishes as Hindu chickpeas or Hindu daal 😂 when it should state Indian chickpeas etc. ||All in all I’d definitely rate this hotel 7/10 and would return however my husband stated...
Read moreFeel the need to give an honest review of this place as a lot of the reviews are not realistic and must be at an alternate reality of this hotel they dream about and tell their firends of when they get home to look good. All round below average hotel. The pools - lazy river very dirty and clearly not been properly cleaned for some time, heavy grime all around the water line. Other pools, tiles coming away every day and lots of sharp patches/edges. The sunbed reserving situation at this hotel is the worst I have encountered in 20 years of holidays abroad, by early morning all sun beds have towels reserving them and then throughout the day 2/3s of the sunbeds sit empty and regularly see desperate families wandering with children looking for a sunbed. The food... breakfast is OK, but food seems to be left out so long it goes cold and dry. The coffee they serve at breakfast is absolutely d8sgusting, probably among the worst I have had at a large hotel, how on earth the staff have not tried it and immediately stopped serving it to people I do not understand. Lunch by the pool is again ok, but the paella is saltier than the sea and pretty much indentical everyday with one dish varied. Dinner is the real let down. The slop in the trays is pretty much inedible, I have no idea why they serve it up. As for the freshly cooked meats, they are either raw or so dry they are inedible. I had roast pork one night that was so hard I physically could not cut or break it up. They desperately need to send someone round to actually try what they are serving people. The lift situation if you are in a room on the 5th floor is a joke, you end up waiting around for ages due to a single lift available and people on lower floors being able to use. The room, ok, but not great. Children shared a very uncomfortable sofa bed, I tried it and felt the metal bars coming through, felt guilty making my kids sleep on it . The bathroom... shower leaks everywhere when used and floods the bathroom. Sinks come away from the work top when pushing the plug release. Hotel entertainment goes on till very late, very loud till atleast 11 each night, making this place difficult for those with younger children. Service very hit or miss. Our worst experience was being repeatedly told by various members of staff that we could keep our room for a late checkout, even on the morning of the day we left, assured we could have a late checkout as our room was not allocated. Then when went to pay and secure this, told no, not possible, like we were idiots expecting this, the hotel could not care less that we had stopped packing and left our children asleep on basis they assured us three times a late checkout would not be an issue. Left us in a stressed situation rushing to pack and sort, ruining...
