RESTAURANTE CORTE Y CATA — Restaurant in Salamanca

We were recommended 3 restaurants from our receptionist in our hotel who was born here. The first choice meson cervante was amazing, beautiful old style go upstairs and the ambience amazing, set lunch 19 euros. We decided because she was spot on that we would try Corte y cata, this place lacks energy, is so overpriced, the cheapest wine is 24 euros a bottle and then it jumps into the 100’s and rises to 400 euros a bottle, crazy considering you can get good wines under 10 euros in supermarkets. Anyway we started with the Iberia ham 18 euros, it was good however they served with bread that was cold and hard, not warm and soft, the second dish we had was the anchovy , 8 pieces that if I closed my eyes, it could of come from a can, the next dish we preordered was the prawn tempura, nothing special . No interesting flavor 10 pieces, that worked out at 2.10 euros a piece. I normally don’t criticize but as a food lover who doesn’t mind paying for a quality meal , I say to other food lovers, don’t disappoint yourself by coming here. It may not be the best tapas place in town, but it's surely one of the best.

Everything they serve on the menu is extremely fresh and well made. My friend loves the grilled octopus so much thhTat she ordered it twice and ate them all. (I help lick the plates) The baked eggplant is a special nice dish and vegetarian friendly.

The cheesecake is better than the ones I have tried in Spain, perhaps because of the locally picked artisan cheese they use.

For less than 15 Euro a person for their food and drink, I really have nothing to complain. The tapas area is quite busy though so you may need to stand (chairs are not enough). I recommend having a reservation for the restaurant area (which is pricer but more...

Fuimos a comer por las críticas que leímos, y bueno, la comida está bien, pero tanto el servicio como el local pesan negativamente en la experiencia.

Puntos positivos: Bien ubicado. Las croquetas de jamón están muy buenas y la tortilla de cebolleta también.

Puntos negativos: La carta un poco liosa. Si quieres comer de tapas, solo puede ser en terraza o en 3 mesas que tienen en la planta de calle. Si quieres comer arriba, no pueden ser tapas. Pero la carta que te dan tiene todo: tapas y platos. Pasamos tal calor dentro, que tanto nosotras como los que estaban en la mesa de al lado, nos teníamos que abanicar y ni aún así conseguías evitar sudar sin parar. Si estás en la terraza en pleno agosto, esto puede ser comprensible, pero dentro del local no debería ser así. El servicio era lento y el camarero en concreto que nos atendió bastante seco. Comentamos el tema del calor y nos dijo que como se abría la puerta para servir a la terraza, que era lo que había. El local no es accesible, ya que para ir al baño se tienen que bajar unas escaleras. Cocina en el sótano al lado de los baños. Esto igual en un bar de carretera no te choca, pero en un sitio con cierta categoría, igual no es lo mejor. Se equivocaron en la cuenta cobrando bebida de más. No pasa nada, se comentó y se solucionó, pero después del calor que pasamos y de que los propios camareros y el dueño vieran que varias personas estábamos abanicándonos sin parar, igual más que equivocarte cobrando de más, podrías tener el detalle de no cobrar aunque sea la botella de agua...
