On previous holidays to Gran Canaria, Jardin Del Sol has always been our go to restaurant due to it's excellent service and good food so on this holiday, we went there every night during our 2 week visit. On the second night, my partner and I only ordered 2 mains. The waiter brought over some garlic bread which I assumed was an appitiser that they usually give customers before a meal. I ate half of it and left the rest and the waiter who brought them over told me off for eating them as they were ordered by another table and he gave them to us by mistake. He made out it was my fault for his mistake and then made a fuss that I hadn't finished it. He then moaned about me to another waitress, she had blond short hair with half in a ponytail, making me feel so uncomfortable. Had I known they weren't for us, I wouldn't have touched them. The following day, We complained to 2 other waiters who normally greet and seat customers and they were excellent. They sorted the issue immediately with said waiter and waitress and their attidudes changed for the better.
On a more positive note, the restaurant was lovely and the food was really good. One of my favourite meals was the sole with white wine sauce. I adored the dessert I had, i believe it was called 3...
Read more🇬🇧 Hmmm, how can I put this... I'll start with the positive: the food is still good. 👍🏻 BUT: a lot has changed. Starting with the prices, which have become a little more expensive. That's absolutely ok. And I don't want to criticise that at all. The economic situation is what it is. BUT: If the quality drops when prices go up, then I get suspicious. (I'm prepared to pay more if I know I'll get the same quality). It's the little things. But it's the sum of everything that makes the difference: The sparkling water is now homemade. - Great: good for the environment, as well as for the Porte wallet. However, the price for the customer has not changed much. So far, everything is still good. Then to the food. Some things have changed here. But I emphasise that it's still good. (But no longer amazing). I've been coming here for years and have always recommended the restaurant to others. But now, for example, the sole (which I love and have enjoyed here regularly) is now served with cheap chips. Before, it was always served with beautifully prepared purree. The plates have also changed. In previous years, the plates were beautifully elongated ovals. Now only rectangular (normal) plates. Idem with the coffee. The cups now resemble canteen cups. Even the biscuit is no longer there. Last but not least, I also have to criticise the fact that there was no hand dryer or paper to dry your hands after going to the toilet. As I said, these are small things. But the sum makes the difference. In previous years I have recommended this restaurant to all my friends as an excellent restaurant, but this year (unfortunately) I will no longer do so. I hope the restaurant takes this as constructive criticism and will then work on it and improve.
Read moreWe've eaten at Guarapo's often both before and after the pandemic and never had a bad meal or felt like we have been stung on the price. Sometimes the service can be a little hit or miss in term of speed but it is a very busy place and if you're on a table at the back you can sometimes be missed. The staff in our experience have always been polite if at times rushed off their feet which I know might annoy the sort of person who dithers over their selection while the waiting staff are at the table. Having tried many of the cafe's and restaurants in Playa over the 20- odd years we've been going it is without doubt one of the better places to eat in Playa. We'll certainly be going back later this year for dinner there are few times, and will be getting a breakfast there before flying home because its great...
