What can I say, on holiday for the first time ever to Gran Canaria. Do not miss this absolutely beautiful gem of a restaurant. I normally go to the Greek islands for my holidays, but due to all the crazy weather patterns, I came here this year. So glad I found "Greek Village" authentic as you get, absolutely beautiful Greek food, just like I'm used too. Wonderful service, very kind, chatty, professional and very attentive to you, with a good price too. The customers that where in this place helping to create a wonderful ambience also, not like your usual tacky food place, instead of sitting stirring and judging others in the place, I experienced others having a wonderful dining experience, enjoying the wonderful Greek delights prepared by the skilled chef/chefs, minding there own business and creating a very special, calming ambience.
Do NOT miss this little gem hiding away on a back street of Gran Canaria. If you love Greek food, you will be in for a treat. To say you aren't in Greece, I don't actually think you can...
Read moreFine if you like Greek food, but certainly not the best in town - that goes to Mr. Greek.
We had the Tzatziki and the Aubergine Tzatziki for starters. It could have been more garlicky and have more cucumber in it. The Aubergine was sometimes sliced a bit too thick, so some pieces were a bit watery compared to others. Still, the portion was generous for a starter and the pita bread was very nice and fresh.
For mains, the Village Chicken was again fine but not amazing. The feta was very much lacking in the dish as you couldn't really taste it. Also, a bit more seasoning/salt on the chicken would have been good. To add, the portion size again was generous but the rice with the dish was a bit too small compared to the amount of chicken on the plate. The grilled peppers were nice and sweet.
Overall, it is a nice place and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I saw one of the waitresses was giving some complimentary candy to some of the children dining and wanted to make sure everyone was having...
Read moreWe booked a table to celebrate New Year’s Eve. When we arrived at 21.00, the owner told us we were two hours late and the kitchen would only be open for another 30 minutes. When I showed him the confirmation email to prove him I actually booked for 21.00 (not 19.00), he didn’t even apologize or anything. He seemed quite annoyed and stressed. We only had a main course. Meanwhile they switched off the music and it was clear the staff wanted us out. No sincere apologies, no small gesture, compensation, nada. When we ordered to bill and asked to split the bill in two (which was not that hard with one course and 1 drink each) the waiter even rolled his eyes. How rude can you be? Then you really do not understand your profession. Conclusion: although the food in this restaurant is fine, the level of service and kindness is very low. There are plenty of nice restaurants to go to....
