The food of our hotel and the restaurants in the area had not provided the local taste experiences we had hoped for before our trip. Luckily we found this small and intimate restaurant that doesn't look outwardly attractive but is definitely worth the experience. There were several interesting tapas in the menu. We had excellent help in choosing food from the restaurant women. They offered us a dose-sharing so we could try different flavors - a good personal service! We took the day's soup, four different tapas and the main course. Of these especially the local cheese paté, Almogrote, was memorable. I liked sweet potatoes in Sancacho but otherwise this Canarian Easter dish was not for my taste. We split Spicy Spicy King prawns as well. Brilliant place, a true local gem! We were recommended to visit by a fellow hotel stayer round the corner from us— and visiting didn’t disappoint!
Probably some of the best food I’ve had while abroad, the waitress’ were attentive, knowledgeable and professional. The wee chef in the back making us all our tapas was a true gem too! One of us is a chef back home in Edinburgh, Scotland so we know good food when we have it and this was it! Recommend the goats cheese and poached apple and the King Prawns. The homemade pate was also delicious. If you’re visiting, I suggest a walk in near 6.30-7pm and booking for later on in the evening as it’s wee inside.
Thank you again, we ended up with lots of cheese on cheese in our tapas picks by accident but...

The pork cheek was okay, but it could have been miles better if it was served with something other than just three small potatoes. It would have fit perfectly in, for example, in a taco with pickled onions. The garlic chicken seemed like a dish one could easily prepare at home. The patatas bravas sauce had, to us, an overpowering bell pepper spice flavor.
While the service and ambiance were nice, we were disappointed given the restaurant's high ratings which gave us high...
