The monument to Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus) is located about halfway along the section of the GC-510 appropriately named the Avenue Cristóbal Colón. It is about a kilometre north of the resort of Melenoras. it sits in the centre of a roundabout area surrounded by cactus plants.
It was built in 2002 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of his visit to replenish supplies before his 4th voyage to America. The statue shows him pointing out to the west towards America. It was a relatively flat walk and provided you have a good sunscreen and plenty of fluid, it was pretty easy.
One slightly odd thing is that you cannot actually walk a full 360-degree path around the monument. The southern side has no pedestrian crossing over the dual carriageway. It looks fabulous on a blue-sky day, or in the evening when the sun is setting...
