As Playa Hoya regulars, we have frequented La Orilla on every vavation. We mostly came for the view. Every time we noticed how stressed out the service person was - yep, it was mostly only just one. At times we had to wait for 90 minutes. As we knew this could happen we prepared ourselves and it was alright.
Today was our last visit as we were treated extremely rude. When we took place at a table outside, we were informed that the waitress forgot to put a reservation sign on it. With no grumbling we moved inside. Here we were ignored for quite a while. When some guests left their outside-table to catch the waitress inside behind the bar, she offered them strawberry smoothies for dessert. All excited we went (in Spanish): "Great, that's exactly what we'd like to order, too." She pretended not to hear us in an otherwise empty room.
When she started waiting on other people who arrived later then us, we made ourselves noticed again: "Excuse us, could we order, please?" Her reply: "You can't have smooties. I am alone and it takes too much time." - "Ehm, didn't you just offered smoothies to the other guests." She went: "Yes, but they have eaten here."
Actually, we were to eat there, too - four of us. Plus we wen't on a special occasion, ready to spent also money for cocktails etc. The smoothies were for our kids who kept calm and behaved like little angels all the time. They were really sad and couldn't quite understand why we were treated differently than the other guests....

The decor is lovely. The place has a real beach vibe about it. The staff are great.
Food and drinks are very reasonably priced compared to the UK.
They do breakfasts, coffee (oat milk too), snacks, tapas, main food, healthy choices. Literally everything you need from morning through to night.
All food is cooked in a healthy way. The full English is more like a breakfast you would get in Shoreditch or Kensington, rather than a greasy spoon cafe.
Already back on our second day and will come here every day while we are here.
An absolute gem at extremely...
Read more2nd visit, another hit. Love the beach hut vibe and dj music in the early evening. Had a great meal 2 days ago and returned tonight and again the service and food was excellent. Our waiter, Gorka, was on hand to make recommendations and suggestions and all were delicious, especially the croquettes, creme brulee and Ron miel & lime. We also had tuna Poke which was tasty and Olivier Salad which is a favourite of ours. We will return on our next visit to Playa Honda. Thank you Gorka and all at La Orilla. Gerry & Rebecca, see you...
