Restaurante Subiendo Al Cielo — Restaurant in San Lorenzo de El Escorial

This place is a complete gem and a true treat. Carlos, the owner has a swanky restaurant decorated like a cafe with lovely china at each table.

A few things: cash only and you eat what Carlos gives you. This makes it extra fun and enjoyable, the interaction with him really warming the experience. He makes food he enjoys from throughout his life with a nice twist.

We let him take the reins and bring out what he thought we’d like best!

Pincho with cheese and sunflower seeds Broth and onion soup (phenomenal wow) Croquetas de jamón Tomato and bonito (tuna) salad (best tomatoes I’ve ever had) Garbanzos, garlic, and lima bean roast

His homemade vermouth blend was delicious as was the dessert. We got the arroz con leche and he gave us some orange chocolates and chocolate panettone on the house. YUM!!
