Clams in garlic - really good balance, not too much garlic as can often be the case in other places. Not one piece of grit - a joy. Mussels marinera - big, fat, juicy mussels (I would hazard farmed, but still full of flavour) and sooooo much sauce, it was almost a shame to leave it. Asparagus soup, which was advertised as garnished with strips of fried cured ham - the flavour was good, if a little on the thin side. The ham was disappointing, in that it was one large piece, and impossible to cut into bite sizes (with a spoon, in a bowl of liquid!), so therefore a struggle, but no other option but to eat it in one go. A shame, because a small bite, interspersed between a few spoonfuls of soup would have made the dish just right. Lemon sole - the sauce was great, the fish was great, if just very slightly undercooked (it struggled to come away from the bone). What lost a star here was because the entire plate was "beige". There was some kind of accident of a dollop of beige, which transpired to be onion, red cabbage and courgette, all different sizes and just ´beige` and mushy. There was another pile of beige, which was cold (totally cold) boiled potatoes. I can't remember the other fish dish, although the fish was beautifully cooked, but again let down because, although surrounded by colour, it was a hash of tomatoes, red and green peppers and onion. Some overcooked, some alright. Why, oh why, are vegetables such an afterthought? We like vegetables. Most people like vegetables. If you are going to adorn a plate (Which is pretty much a "should be done" especially when all else is just beige!), make some effort, get it right. Second disappointment was the tatín de manzana (tarte tatín) as clearly it was not cooked fresh to order and was a rather heavy gloop. The waiting staff were great, although one was a little short when trying to get his attention but later rather gushing and pleasant (likely realising his earlier error). The place is spotlessly clean, bright, welcoming, almost "New England" beachfront type decor and colours. Frequented by locals a booking is probably necessary at peak times. Despite being quite a cavernous building the sound doesn't bounce and you can enjoy conversation without battling over the voice of any neighbouring diners. Only took a photo of the mussels! You'll have to trust my word on...
Read moreAVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We went there for dinner last night and the service was AWFUL! We ordered one cold Tapa, one hot Tapa (the meat balls are already made, just needed to heat up in microwave) and two pork bap / roll. In the beginning we asked the waitress to give us more ice, she didn't. Then the baps were tasteless and the meat was not fresh and disgusting. I only had one bite. We waited for more than 20 minutes for our the other two Tapas, the waitress totally forgot. We remaindered her, still waited for another 10 minutes until lost our patients and left. They didn't apologise at all. The restaurant wasn't very busy last night still couldn't give standard service. Thank you for letting us paying money for just eat the bloody bread....
Read moreNice restaurant, but a bit overpriced for dinner. That said, it’s one of the more upscale places (if you don’t want tapas) in Torreguadiaro. We have had both lunch and dinner here, and enjoy the view and the ambience very much. The staff is very nice and become quite relieved when you speak Spanish as the restaurant has many guests that don’t speak Spanish. The fish here is excellent with several daily specials. The wine menu is fairly good, but on the higher side in terms of price. The food is of high quality and prepared with care. We can highly recommend...
