Basoa taberna — Restaurant in San Sebastián

Had an amazing birthday lunch celebration at Basoa Taberna. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and presented even better. We ordered the croquetas and a beet salad to start, followed by the carrillera (which actually came out garnished fancier than the photo shows). Then 2 of the different paella options followed our starters. We also ordered all 3 dessert offerings although we wasted no time for a photo. No details of the meal were overlooked and not one bite was wasted. We even debated licking the plates. The waitstaff was wonderful and the owner and chef, Israel is a true gem of an human. He was extremely accommodating and was nice to see him coming out frequently to interact with customers. Extra plus that he spoke perfect English. The vibes at Basoa are immaculate for a relaxed but elevated meal tucked away in a cute quiet corner of the city. We loved the music playlist as well! We will definitely...

Gluten free heaven. Absolutely amazing place. My husband found this fabulous eatery online as a place who’s entire menu is gluten free. The pintxos bars in San Sebastián are a mine field for Coeliacs so to go somewhere and feel ‘safe’ to eat everything was a joy. But we didn’t expect the food to be this good. The seafood croquettas were truly superb, we followed with a seafood rice dish and finished with a basque cheesecake and a white chocolate and praline cake that we will remember for a very long time it was that good. What made it extra special was the lovely waiter and a chat with the chef (he does everything himself in a tiny kitchen) who you pass by on the way to the toilets. A truly memorable experience. I absolutely love this place. We came before 1pm because we were rushed to get to the airport, they were kind enough to open the kitchen early.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had the croquetas, salad russe, the arroz al pulpo and 2 desserts (chocolate truffle tart and lemon meringue tart). It was all perfect and so was the wine.

Better yet, everything was gluten free so this place is heaven for coeliacs, but my gluten-loving partner didn’t notice a difference either and loved everything just as much

Maybe because we came when it was quiet, but there was plenty of space for our 18 month old kid to walk around and they were really patient with her as well.
