As a local, chef and owner of a restaurant in Gipuzkoa. I have lived and worked in serveral restaurants in Donosti I was shocked and sad to be treated in such a way. I went to eat with my family, 3 adults my seven year old son (sushi fan) my 2 year old and my newborn baby girl. We tried to order several dishes to share and for the 2 year old baby who doesn’t eat sushi yet we asked for a pintxo croqueta. We were refused to be served because pintxos are only available at the bar…. And the only way for them to bring us 1 croqueta in pintxo format was to order it at the bar, because it was “too complicated” to serve a pintxo for the table…. We talked to the owner and his answer was “those are the rules”. It’s sad what restaurants have become in Donosti, how customer service has taken such a steep fall to refuse to serve a 2 year old and losing a table of 5 for a 2euro croqueta. Food was good - service was a mess. Since it’s pay at the counter one of us had gotten there earlier and had a tab but the rest of our group went up and paid for our own food as we got in. Some of our orders got lost in the shuffle, we eventually got one of them but the other was just a goner - absolutely keep all your receipts.
