My friend from Taiwan has been here in summer of 2021 and recommended me this place so I booked a table for my own birthday.

I somehow thought it was a small restaurant (I don’t know why) so I was positively surprised when we went inside and found out that the restaurant part was located at the further back of the place, a bit away from the bar section which was really nice, so that we could have rather a quite dining experience.

All staff speak English, the website has an English version, so does their menu so for someone who does not speak good Spanish it was perfect and we felt very welcomed by all the staff.

We do not usually drink wine but wanted to have sweet white wine so we asked a staff for some recommendations. He was very attentive and brought us the perfect wine for us. :)

The execution of each dish looked very professional. The timing of serving was impeccable. There were always some staff walking around, checking if we are finished with each dish or not, paying attention to everything so I think that was the reason why their serving was flawless.

Bread was tasty. The grilled octopus we had was really tender and was not too oily like the ones often seen in San Sebastián. The rice dish had too much of a river-water taste possibly from clams which was not really my liking but how the risotto rice was cooked was perfect. What we liked the most was the applie pie. It was THE BEST apple pie we have ever had. And for that we will definitely come back here again and rcecommend this place...

Very disappointed in the food. We thought it was one Michelin star. We got the tasting menu and every single plate was a disappointment. The food was not even high quality and some dishes were too salty. The crab tasted like it came out of a can jar mixed with can tuna. The same taste and textured my mom would put in a traditional Vietnamese dish. A totally disappointment. Then we had the grilled flounder fish. It was the worst, the fish was garnished with a sour vinaigrette dressing with lettuce on the side. After two bites, everyone on the table couldn’t even bite into it anymore and we (3/4 of us) love fish. The dressing was ridiculously sour. They totally ruined the entire fish by drenching the fish in a disgusting sour sauce.

Then came the T-bone steak, it was so tough and chewy and raw. We couldn’t even cut into the steak!

The price for the tasting was overly priced. $130 Euros per person! We payed over $600 for a party of four just to have the worst food in San Sebastian. Nothing high quality about it. The food was very poor and cheap quality. I have eaten in several Michelin Star restaurants, and this definitely does not deserve a star. Thank goodness it’s not!! Food was awful! I would not suggest the tasting menu!! I would not recommend this place at all!

The service was also very poor. The server never even came over to refill our waters. ...

Had an awful meal there. You will have to live multiple lifetimes to get worse value for money than this meal. Tiny portions, literally 3 spoonfuls for a $30 entree. We ordered 4 dishes for 3, $70 per person, and the bulk of our meal and our main experience ended up being eating the bread. You’d need to spend $150 pp or more to have a meal with the same amount of food as a single bistro dish. Quality wise the tuna belly tasted like something you could get from the supermarket, nothing else was notable.

For the price you’d expect attentive service but we were ignored for 4/5 of the meal with no interaction or follow up. We asked for olive oil for the bread THREE TIMES and the server never came. We sat in a corner behind a column, and we watched them walk right past us multiple times. We couldn’t order more food because they ignored us. It’s disgusting to pay this much for a meal and have worse service than at a fast food restaurant. We would have had to stand up in the center of the dining room to get service, and we eventually did that to get our bill.

Maybe this restaurant has decent food but with miniscule portions and nonexistent service its impossible to know and it should be recategorized as an airport waiting room. Go here if you want to spend $150 to get ignored for 2 hours while eating dry bread and about 6 tablespoons of...

Narru is a charming place in San Sebastián with genuinely good food and a great wine list. We had some well-prepared starters, the txuleta steak, and a lovely (but expensive) bottle of red. The kitchen absolutely delivered. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were cold and inattentive. For example, when we ordered a cheese platter, it was placed on our table without a single word. No explanation, no idea what we were eating — just silence and attitude. Worse still was the experience with the wine. We ordered a €150 bottle, and the sommelier, who was unfriendly from the beginning, simply opened the bottle and left it on the table. He didn’t offer a tasting, didn’t pour it, didn’t say a word. After 20 minutes (and halfway through our second starter), we poured it ourselves. When he eventually returned, he seemed shocked that we hadn’t waited. After that, he completely ignored our table for the rest of the evening. One older waitress in particular was especially unfriendly — it felt more like a school canteen than a restaurant with fine dining prices. Sadly, this happened on my birthday, and it turned what could’ve been a memorable meal into one of the most disappointing experiences we've had in San Sebastián. Great food, but utterly terrible service. We won’t be returning.

Fancy place but you don’t have to be dressed up. We made reservations a month before just in case since we were visiting on vacation. Here are pictures of the fish soup (delicious), I forgot what kind of fish it was but it was the catch of the day, + the dessert which was a creme Brûlée style but it wasn’t very good. The reason for the 4 starts is because when we got there at 6:45, the people upstairs were very confused when we told them we have a reservation for 7 and then they said maybe it’s the place downstairs like they weren’t sure? ITS THE SAME RESTAURANT! 2 different styles (upstairs is bar more casual on the boardwalk + downstairs is the classier place) They should have the list from downstairs as well to avoid confusion. We go downstairs and the doors are locked and we can see them setting up so we had to wait 15 more minutes. And also, I got the wrong order of the fish but I didn’t say anything because I was hungry. I had said fish at first but a second later I changed it to the veal and he didn’t write down the orders so he must’ve forgotten my change in his head. (This is why maybe should write it down) Either way, definitely an enjoyable dinner and pre fix menu was a great bargain! 35 euros per person.
