My husband and I loved Arbaso Hotel and the location is perfect for taking tours and to go for pintxos. From many hotels including Ritz Carlton and Conrad we have stayed in; this one for sure left an indelible mark, in a positive way! As soon as we got out of our car by valet parking, we were received by Adrian, a wonderful person who not only helped transport our luggage to our rooms, showed some of the features of our room but also shared information on where we could go to see part of the Game of Thrones shooting that took place on the Itzurun Beach in Zumaia. He shared that information when I mentioned that we are fans of Game of Thrones.
What struck us upon setting foot inside the hotel, the staff of Arbaso- were pleasant, genuine, welcoming, warm, and ready to check us in. While we couldn't get an upgrade because the hotel was full and there was a football match, we still loved our stay. Unlike other hotels, this hotel sets apart from the rest by removing barriers between the customers, which us, and the staff for check-in and check-out. I liked this concept about Arbaso, where the staff was sitting at the long table and not behind the counters like most hotels. This removal of barriers makes it more personable and the hiring of the "right" staff adds a warm reception.
The service was immaculate and while that is important, it is the staff that adds warmth to the experience!
I have to say it is your staff, and the "right" staff for the check-in and check-out that highlighted our stay at Arbaso, they need to be recognized and are of much deserving accolades. Their names are: Begona, Inaki, Miriam, Gorka (front table check-in and check-out) and of course Adrian. Even on the day of the departure, all of them were wonderful, including Adrian.
We will recommend this hotel to our friends and family members. As a couple, we travel a lot and keep on returning to Spain because we love the people of Spain and its culture. If we ever come back to San Sebastian, we plan to stay at Arbaso and hope to get an upgrade next time. Thank you to your wonderful staff and please share this compliment, they are so deserving of...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to staying at the Hotel Arbaso as part of our Spanish holiday but I’m afraid it didn’t live up to our expectations. The hotel itself is pretty cool although apart from two sofas in the small lobby, there is nowhere to spend anytime outside of your room. Our room was great, a suite with lots of space and nice touches on the amenities. Now to the service….we were really disappointed from the moment we checked in (dire experience with no information shared on the hotel, breakfast timings, etc) and if we asked any questions it all felt quite short and unhelpful, almost too much trouble. We tried to hire bikes, told I couldn’t book them so when I popped down to reserve them was told they had already been booked that morning and then confusion on whether I could or could not book them later in the day. At breakfast we were told what it was which we thought was strange there was no menu, only to see other people with menus and eating something different and the same thing happened on the second day until we asked for the menu. The restaurant Narru was pretty average and wouldn’t rate alongside some of the others we visited. I wouldn’t normally leave a review but do feel it was beyond average and very overpriced for what we...
Read moreWe stayed here for 8 nights for our Honeymoon and had a lovely time! The staff are phenomenal: so kind, helpful, and friendly. They helped me to book in-room massages for the day we arrived and that was the best decision I made. The lobby is meant to feel like home and it truly does—especially when the fire is going. The location is also great, it is an easy walk anywhere in the city.
Although the hotel is close to a church, the church bells never bothered us. The sound proofing is great. And the bells don’t chime all day. They never woke me up in the morning or during my afternoon nap.
A bit about the rooms: each one has a story which is wonderful. We stayed in a Junior suite, which had. A bedroom, living room, and bathroom. The bathroom had a bidet toilet seat, rainfall shower and a soaking tub which was amazing! It also had a double sink. We loved the rainfall shower—it is so refreshing, especially after a long day.
The hotel also has a steam room and sauna you can reserve—we tried both and they were great. Also the pillow menu was amazing! You can pick your pillow!
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The decor is modern and is quality. We also tried the hotel restaurant and it was delicious! If you come to San Sebastián you...
