Oriental I jatetxea — Restaurant in San Sebastián

Despite reading quite positive reviews, we were disappointed with our visit to this restaurant, so much so that I feel compelled to leave a review. The starters of dim sum and spring rolls were quite pleasant. Unfortunately the service was terrible, especially so from the head waitress who kept walking away from us mid sentence whilst we were making order requests, to the point that I never received rice with my dish (because I wasn’t given the time to utter the words). When I requested rice later, again I only had a few seconds to request, as I wasn’t asked what kind of rice and was given a cold bowl of boiled rice. The main courses were extremely bland despite ordering the spicy chicken dish and my partner had Vietnamese noodle dish which he described tasted like “Pot noodle”. The restaurant isn’t expensive but I would still expect better...

Both of us have extensive experience of oriental food from around the world. We were a little bit suspicious of a restaurant that serves Chinese and Japanese dishes but we gambled based on the reviews we read. We ordered Vietnamese spring rolls, gyoza, sweet and sour pork with rice and a selection of sushi. The wine was inexpensive and great value for money. In a town that has so many Michelin starred restaurants it might be difficult to compete, but for simple, no nonsense oriental food this place did...

Bueno voy a tratar de explicar la experiencia más vergonzosa que he vivido en mi estancia en donostia, nada más llegar al bar, el dueño del bar/terraza (o como queráis describir al lugar este donde la educación brilla por su ausencia), llegó vociferando que separáramos las mesas cuando se nos había dicho que podíamos juntarlas hasta las 9 pm (eran las 7 de la tarde) para sumarse al percal lamentable que estábamos viviendo tras haber pedido 7 bebidas y estar consumiendo, aparecen dos clientas habituales a sumarse a los gritos diciendo cosas sin sentido. Su único argumento fue: “o pedís o separáis”, bastante sin sentido teniendo en cuenta que somos 7 personas para una mesa donde escasamente cabe una taza de café, aún así para terminar la tarde decidimos ir a por la hoja de reclamaciones y… ¡SORPRESA! No la tienen, a ver si les hace tanta gracia y tratan igual a la policía , ojalá cierren el local por que es una vergüenza. Ya para acabar, decidimos intentar olvidar la tarde jugando a las cartas cuando se nos niegan el juego mientras que sus clientas habituales estaban jugando con una tablet, en fin, como comprenderéis no repetiré la experiencia ni la recomiendo a nadie que no quiera salir traumatizado de un servicio pésimo.
