La Cantina Portmany — Restaurant in Sant Antoni de Portmany

Party of 11. Arrived at 9-30 pm. Had to wait for table. As we wanted 5 servings of paella , we asked the waitress if she could take or order before we where seated at our table. We ordered paella and 7 other dishes. Waitress advised food would take 35/40 mins. After 70 mins we asked when we would be getting our food? They said 2/3 mins. 5 mins later paella arrived, it took a further 5mins to serve it. We began eating then noticed that the other foods still hasn't arrived, asked waiter again and was assured it was on the way , a further 10 mins passed before 5 of the meals arrived! After another 10 mins the last two meals arrived but they weren't what was ordered. At this point we asked to speak with the manger. He happened to be laughing with the occupants at the next table. I noticed as the waiters explained the situation he just shrugged and seemed to dismiss our situation. I the asked that the manager actually come to our table. He did. When I explained why we weren't happy , all he could say that as the restaurant was busy then we had to accept the long delay and staggered food arrival. When I suggested that as it was a restaurant and that all he had to do was get the food to our table in good time, all at the same time and with no mistakes, he shrugged and said that as they where busy what could he do! We all told him that we where very unhappy. He said that we didn't have to pay for the last two meals , when I said that of course we wouldn't pay for food that we hadn't ordered, all he would do was give us the bottle of water for free. The waiter that served us was very apologetic , he said he understood why we where unhappy but couldn't do any more. It ruined what up untill then had been a really lovely...

Worst restaurant experience. We waited 20 minutes before the waiter noticed us, which was during breakfast. We figured they must have a lot of people here. Then it was lunch time and there were less people, however the waiters were even more slow. We waited another 20 minutes for the menu and then another 30 minutes for the food. Of course the food was under seasoned, kind of vague. It didn't offend or delight. However, for the price, one would expect better food. During the meal, I waited again for the opportunity to order a drink. It was chaotic and the waiters didn't even seem to know what they were doing. The entire time the staff was unpleasant and unhelpful. We wanted to order food from the menu and all we got was "well, well, well", still don't know why. The icing on the cake came at checkout. Suddenly it went quickly and when we saw them tipping themselves, we could see why it was such a horrible experience. After we paid, the waiter came over again to ask us to pay again. To add to that, he didn't even bother to give us the rest of the money back for our payment. Definitely don't recommend and rather look around to see if there are better...

Went here because it had OK reviews. How wrong I was I ordered tbone steak asked for it to be medium it was well done. Waiter was pleasant and got me another one this time it came out more rare than medium. The pepper sauce was only just warm. But what disgusted me the most was the restaurant sales representative was actually taunting some English lads outside just where we sat and causing a fight. The English lads maturely walked away and in true Italian style he said "comeback what are guys going to do about it" ? Shocking behaviour and he even taunted some English girls to get some rivalry against some Scottish girls. Totally unacceptable behaviour. My advice is if you want cheap and cheerful basic food this is OK for you for the more civilised amongst you avoid like the plague. Incidentally to the left near the pier towards cafe del mar are amazing buzzing restaurants that the locals love going it's a more authentic experience IMHO. The pictures of this restaurant are out of date it's alot more cheap and nasty looking from...
