Cafeteria Venecia — Restaurant in Sant Antoni de Portmany

Strolling along the San An seafront in the sun and decide a beer was in order, Beer, as always in Spain, lagerish, but drinkable, (Guinness man) my friend and I sat there drinking and watching the world go by, we decided it might be an idea to have something to eat as we had been sat there for about 3 hours, gently taking in the sun, the scenery and of course the beer :-)

We had been served throughout the afternoon by two very friendly and professional staff, Francesca and Cindii, never did find out the name of the third young lady serving us or the Barman, had no reason to talk to him until later in the day, (that's another story), so we ordered up a pizza each with chilli . . . hmmmmm, tasted nice, very well cooked BUT not enough chilli for our palate Francesca bought a sideplate with fresh ghost chillies, now we are talking . . she was surprised when we pounced on them and starting cutting slices to add the pizza LOL

This led to us being something of a talking point for what was now the evening !

We continued to sit in the comfort of the ambience as a market was set up by the fountains, an Ibicenco accompanied by a drummer began a cultural dance by the fountains and the now in full swing market, yet the music and the general hubbub still allowed for conversation,

The third young lady (mentioned earlier) returned from a break surprised to see us still sitting there, she exclaimed "You're still here !" LOL

A couple from England sat at the table next ours and hearing us talking struck up a conversation, they too had pizza but made the mistake of ordering garlic bread as a starter, no doubt expecting a Harvester type item, Nah, not his garlic bread, they were almost too full to manage the pizza they had to follow,

We are now in a fourway conversation and having a great time even though now the sun had set !

We were a little later joined by a couple from Barcelona who also chatted freely with us and we shared a few more beers until both couples decided to head for the hotel or wherever they were needed . . . we decided a few more were in order LOL

Closing time ! how did that happen ! it was in fact now more than 9 hours since we had sat down and the relaxed atmosphere of the place meant we hadn't been necking beers, rather just enjoying ourselves, the company we had had and the staff who were wonderful As they started to clear the tables it was suggested we finish our drinks inside the restaurant as they weren't hustling us out of the place but obviously needed to put the tables away for the night, we duly complied and went inside to finish our drinks as they stacked tables

When they had finished we made our farewells with lots of smiles and cheery goodbyes and promises to return to see them when we go back in September . . . and we will because it was such a wonderful, fun, friendly and relaxed day in wonderful surroundings

Me and some friends went here for food and it took 20 minuets for us to get served and when we did 2 meals got brought out then 30 minuets later the other 3 meals arrived. We ordered the mixed paella and chicken wings and chips and 2 pasta dishes and this is what we received. After complaining numerous times about PINK CHICKEN the staff stood there doing absolutely nothing for around 20 minuets avoiding us. A “manager” then arrived and starting telling us that this isn’t pink chicken, we then told him to eat it then if it was not pink and he picked the chicken up and tossed it in his mouth then turned around and spat it out and threw it in the bin. One friend had already ate some chicken and later that night started throwing up and felt extremely unwell. We got 2 meals free and the rest of us had to pay for undercooked and...

Good food, poor service. Got a pizza and so did the person I was with, the pizza was nice, similar to what you would get elsewhere. The service and hospitality were poor. Before we sat down we were told it would be closing in 25 minutes which is fair, despite being told this we waited 10 minutes to order, even after trying to get the attention of a waiter who gave a smart remark to a colleague and continued to ignore us. There were also other waiters/waitresses free who could have served us. When we finally were served the waitress was so blunt. The atmosphere and service might be different early on in the evening but the service we received was disappointing, seemed like there was a grudge against us for going in with 25 minutes until close.
